Mordel,
I woke up at 5:30 this morning and had a bizarre idea. What about allowing members to buy stock in the B&G?
Investors could spend their credits on "B&G" stock, picking a number from 1-5.
The randomizer that picks the house numbers and Keno numbers could be used to generate a number every week (or day, if you like). It picks an integer from -5 to +5.
If a member owns this number, they recieve credits. If it's negative counterpart is chosen, the stock owners with that number lose credits.
For example, I buy stock and receive a certificate with the number "5" on it. The number chosen for that week is 5, so I receive X number of credits. On the next week, the number chosen is -5, so I lose X number of credits.
I see it kind of like buying stock in the boardgame "Life," but with a risk factor involved (after all, there is risk in buying real stock).
You could even have stocks named after companies, like Ceres Metals, Archernar Battlemechs, Anubis Defense Industries, ComStar, and so on.
What do you think?

Sounds gud but i spent ages saving up my credits, i wouldn't want them to disapear in half the time, i lost 30credits on the keno game because i didn't know what i was doing! any more would be scary

I know how you feel Wanallo. I think I threw away about 20 creds on the keno. Fun, but I think I chose too many numbers.

Sounds just like another type of lottery game to me. If I were to create some sort of Stock thing here, I would definitely try to make it a real stock. You could buy stock, and the stock would rise and fall based on a number of factors (eg. Posts, Reviews, Subitted Designs, etc). The more something happens in a day, the more the stock rises. If nobody does anything in a day, the stock would respond by essentially plummeting.
Something along those lines is more realistic to me and is an incentive for activity. Also, if things were slow for a week, then picked up pace for 5 straight days with lots of reviews, posts, etc, the stock would raise in value more on the 5th day than the first because at first it could be considered a fluke.
There are a lot of factors that could contribute, and it's a very interesting idea. But would require a lot of thought and charts to understand how it increases/decreases.
Could be something I would do just for fun though. Why don't you add an enhancement for it. At some point I may actually sit down and code it in.

Well, that's the challenge. It would be kind of lame if there was no risk involved.
And now you know why I don't play the lottery or keno: I grew up in Nevada where gambling is big, and live in Idaho, where the lottery is big. I know the odds better.

Hmmm. . . . I like your idea better than the +5, -5 idea. It'd keep me coming back as a stockholder, that's for sure!
When you speak of enhancements, what would you have in mind?

I actually just meant for you to click on the little Report Defect link up top and then select Enter Bug. Select it as an ehnacement with a title of something like "Create a Stock purchase system for the B&G". A little description would be fine as a gentle reminder for me in case I forgot what exactly you meant.

Well, I think that this Idea, with Mordel's idea combined with it, rox. If I knew how to code in php, I'd make a framework of a module for this over the weekend and donate it lol.
