Anyone here use the light machine guns? I think they are a very underated weapon, ok one point of damage but for 2.5 tons you can stick 10 of them on which gives you the crit ability an LBX-AC10 has, minus the range. I have a mech (the Ajatar) which is 75 tons and mounts ten of them, they give it alot of extra ability. paired along with big punch weapons they provide wicked crit ability, much better than any pulse laser or normal laser you could get for the same wieght. And it has plenty more ammo than an SRM.

Actually, I've never used it, I went for the hevy MG, it's more my style.
If you want to pack a lot of light, short-range weapons into a 'mech, have you ever considered Heavy Gear convesions? Their range is brutally short (8 hexes for their version of a gauss rifle if memory serves), but the weights are less than .25 tons.

I like to mount them on units that carry Heavy lasers they have fair range and no heat and come in handy for picking at holes that the Heavy lasers make and give fire power with out over heating.
