Do you think, that with the advent of the RAC, ulta ACs should be upgraded and modified so there loading mechanisms can be unjammed?
maybe call them improved UACs, with the only change being the ability to unjam them as per RAC rules.

Sounds like a good idea.
Back when I played a lot we had a house rule that you could unjam them. You took one turn trying and you rolled 2D6.
2-7 unjammed
8-11 still jammed
12 broken
It worked rather well. _________________ If ignorance is bliss, then why are you so miserable?

yes, good call. With the alternate ammo for standard ACs and the RACs , I probably wouldn't use ultras because of the jamming.

Yes, they should be improved. As they are now they're useless to me. I never pack UACs, unless it's a random stock mech for a quick battle.
Armies have certainly used unreliable guns in the past, but that's because they NEED the extra firepower. Why bother in Btech when there are other systems that work better?

I concur. Special ammo can make things fun, one reason that it should have been standard only. Once RAC got them, UAC became an oversized club on a mech, what it was good for. Many tweaks can make the UAC more viable.
Can light/short barrel, or what ever they were called use special ammo?
AWAD- I had rules for what I called short barrel from a long time ago.

AFAIK specialty ammo is usable only in Standard and Light ACs.

Since when have RAC's been able to use specialty ammo? I don't remember that being in the rules.
As for UAC's jamming, I think it should be gotten rid of altogether.

It might not be...it's a "threaded vs flat" view thing.

It wasn't G.
I view the board in flat mode.
I just don't like the embedded quote structure that much. Those tend to take up a lot extra space...
