This reminds me of the dumb things that my wifes cousin has done. We were cleaning out an old house and he found a WWII issue .22 revolver. The hinge pin for the trigger is missing, so when you pull the trigger it does not always fire. After I cleared everything I dry fired it a few times to test it. That idiot went in the backyard with several rounds he found in the house and was firing them off. 1st this is in downtown Altoona, PA and he could have been arrested. 2nd the rounds were at least 10+ years old. The brass casing on some of them had green oxidation. Soon after this the gun went into a safe at my house and he was convinced that it no longer exists.
