I have seen a few programs about that guy. For some reason he wanted to make a suit that protects you from a bear attack. I think he also wanted some thing to keep the women away. 
Seriously though, the suits really do work. The only problem is, unless you are a wildlife photographer, most of the time these suits are impractical. Sure Hikers get attacxked by bears every year, but who wants to hiking in the woods in one of those silly things? Especially at over 7 grand a piece.

From what I understand part of the testing involved getting blasted with a shotgun while wearing that suit could have utility for law enforcement or combat or maybe walking downtown at night.
