==Overview:==
The Detonator represents a slightly different trend in thinking
concerning mobile artillery. In the past few centuries, designers have
increasingly attempted to solve the issue of bringing mass fire to bear by
placing as many weapons as possible on a single chassis - this has led to
heavier and heavier units, culminating in the Padilla.

The Detonator, however, is different. Rather than make a single large
machine, Quikscell designed the Detonator as a smaller, cheaper machine which
requires less in the way of crew members than the larger units but can still
provide the same level of artillery fire as some of the larger units.There is,
however, a trade-off: in order to keep it a "budget unit," the Detonator uses
an ICE engine; this means that its defensive firepower is limited to one
co-axial machine gun as a result of both tonnage and power demands.

==Variants:==
Surprisingly, Quikscell may have actually done something right in designing
the turret. The large "hole" where the Arrow IV system goes seems to be
surprisingly versatile and as such almost any ballistic and/or missile system
can fit in there. Most commanders excersize this by using Thumper systems or
the occasional Guass rifle.

Dedicated self-propelled artillery. Nothing wrong with the idea, it's in fact very sensible to specialize. For once the cheap moneygrubbers managed to produce something that looks good - at least on paper. Let's just hope they actually deliver these units in a package that can be put to use at once.

I'd buy these for any line regiment that needs artillery. They don't need anything fancy, so I refuse to pay for Padillas.

Remember the fluff from the Hetzer? They just kinda threw the mechanisms inside the tank, dropped in a bag of bolts (if you were lucky), and shipped it to you.

Remember, this is Quikscell we're talking about.

Even with leaving it at the same movement speed, when I attempted to convert it into hovercraft form I lost 1.5 tons of armor. Unless you really want me to, I won't pursue that idea any further.

as an arty unit. its armors not a huge concern [to a point.] so post the concept and lets judge it there.

Didn't save it so I'll have to start from scratch.

Edit - bear in mind that the speed was only 4/6 like this version was. I might just have to create it as a totally new unit to accomplish that properly.

It's worth it, no question about that! My Scarborough hovertanks just got themselves a dedicated artillery hover...

The tracked version is still good enough for tracked regiments, of course.

Personally I'd prefer the hover version. It brings new meaning to fast response atrillery. You need arty support where? Zoom!!! There it goes. Get some Pegasus or similar units for lance mates.

Wonder what you would use to stabilze the unit during firing? Drop the hull to the ground to fire? Retractable legs like the huge mobile cranes of today have?

Depends on the mines. There are mines with whips that stick up off the tops of them just so hovercraft can trigger them.

Since artillery missiles have little recoil all that would be required would be for the hovercraft to come to a standstill.
