CHICAGO (Reuters) - McDonald's Corp. Chairman and Chief Executive Jim Cantalupo, who helped turned the company around with a focus on better food and service, died on Monday of an apparent heart attack, the company said.

I thought he had a heart attack, or a stroke, and the family is arguing that he had a systemic infection and THAT caused the Heart Attack-Stroke.

Dr. Atkins slipped and fell on an icy sidewalk, striking his head and leaving him in a coma and being fed by tubes. While in a coma he gained some 60 pounds of weight from all the fluids being pumped into him and then died I think it was 6 weeks later.
And then a group of doctors illegally obtained a copy of the coroner's report by calling the coroner on the phone and claiming he was Atkin's doctor (a crime in any state) and proclaimed him dead of a heart attack from eating all that meat, they also claimed he had high blood pressure.
I saw an interview with a doctor who was a long time opponent of the Atkins diet (a very old colleague of Atkins) and that guy was supremely pissed. He said those docs that lied to get the report should be barred for life from medicine and if they had been in his state he would have seen to that. He explained the above, called them flat out liars, and also asked just how they decided Atkins had high blood pressure since a dead body on an examination table has NO blood pressure.
The report was an external examination, no autopsy was performed since the cause of death was already known. Atkins was somewhere around 75 or so when he died and before the coma he was in excellent health according to his own doctors.
What the press has conveniently decided most people should not know about is that the doctor who put out that lie is part of a group of docs that push vegetarianism. Rush Limbaugh already knew about them, they are all PETA members and have fronted for PETA for some years now, to push their agenda without having PETA's initials on it. PETA deeply hates Atkins as do many fanatic vegetarians, mainly because his diet works better than anyone else's diet does.
The press, even FOX, had to know the truth about these people, but none of them chose to mention this little bit of background on the people who illegaly publicised Dr. Atkins coroner's report. FOX did have that old colleague on to say it was a lie, but never mentioned who these liars really represented.

They (PETA) are listed as such in the directories that we have available at the Criminal Justice department here.

It is sad to see the passing of a hero ( can we say a McDee addict  ) Now, the Aitken Diet, while having it's merits, is potentiallu dangerous. Like so many diets, those who use them need to be educated otherwise serious health concerns will arise.
So, that was my official speech. Now where's the beef?

From what I understand, the Atkins diet works great for weight loss. But it is not meant to be a long term thing. At some point the carbs have to come back into your life since sticking to a mostly red meat diet in the long term would be bad for you.

That and people tend to over do certin aspects of the diet. Nothing but bacon and eggs for breakfast. But instead of having 3 or 4 pieces of bacon they have a pound of it.
