The solution I came up with generally took into account the range, heat and nature of the ammo.

Take a Standard autocannon add 1 ton and 1 crit. to account for the special barrel and magnetic pulse needed.
(My fluff says that a magnetic field needs to be run down the bore of the AC so the bolt goes the right way, the extra volume is for the capacitor to give the magnetic pulse)
The Modified ac can also fire caseless rounds, but not regular rounds. The Heat is elevated by 5 points, the range increases by 2 steps. (an AC20 get the range of an AC5) I always considered AC's as autoloading, not automatic.

Gauss Rifles can be addapted for the addition of 1 ton for a special ceramic liner. the gauss field already exists.
The Gauss rifle has enough focus and such on the bolt to take down satellites and such if a satellite uplink is on the mech (used for targeting). The gauss rifle does not have enopugh intensity at orbital height to do more than 5 points of damage. 5 extra heat points must be dealt with when using powerammo

The ammo is sensitive to magnetic flux, unless shielded by case it is subject to detonation by magnetic flux. This roll is like an ammo explosion roll at 30 pts of PPC damage and is modified by 1 worse for each additional 10pts of PPC damage. If there is a shutdown roll for the engine, there is a change of the ammo exploding ONLY IF the shutdown roll is failed. The flux caused by the mag bottle can set off the ammo make a standard ammo explosion roll each time.

The AC20 with powerslugs becomes pretty nasty, but I believe the EMP rolls for an ammo explosion offset the nastiness. a Gauss rifle firing power ammo would require case automatically, otherwise a EMP roll would be required every time you fire.

We played with this for a while, but eventually went to the old weapons once the novelty wore off. It was fun watching mech brew up from EMP rolls tho'.

Hi, I have given them a run through. Here is what I came up with:



2cm Power Gun Heat 2 Damage 8 Range 2 min 8/16/24 Tons 2 Crits 2

20cm Power Gun Heat 18 Damage 20 Range 6 min 7/14/18 tons 18/10



Tri-barrels is of two ideas, one is to take the 2cm PG above and times the damage and heat and weight and crits by 3 and call it a Tri-barrel

Or this idea: Tri-barrel Heat 4 damage 6 range 4/8/12 tons 3/3.

The last idea I have notes on is giving them ammo but still treating them as an energy weapon…


Here is another set of ideas I had:

10 cm 6 4 2 6 12 16 3 /(1) - 17.00
15 cm 12 8 3 8 14 20 8 /(3) - 18.00
20 cm 20 15 4 8 16 22 12 /(5) - 20.00







I have some other takes on this based off some of hints dropped in the novels of bigger powers guns like a 50cm gun, but felt those would be over kill...
