OK, the two machines are

Loki Prime
Thor Prime

The terrain options are rolling hills and water or a mountainside.

This is a good one. One with better armor, but dependent on ammo and the other weaker, but with better weaponry. I will need look at this more closely.......hhhmmmm!

A what and a what? O yeah those box mechs at the beginning of my TR3050. But from the few clanner battles I have payed, or played against, and some I witnessed, the Thor. Cool name, looks good, and as a great balance of movement to firepower.

Thor prime any day of the week. The Loki has too little armor to be a serious heavy mech IMO.

Ditto.
The Loki has too little armor to stand up for long.

On the other hand, the Loki has a targeting computer. The pilot could try to tough it out at range, using the gunnery bonus. Or just do a total frontal assault, targeted Alpha Strike to the Thor's CT.

No? I don't think so either. Thor Prime, on every day except Saturday and Sunday.

It depend from lvl rules.
Loki is a electonicc marvel and so
if I'm playing with the option to switch
my sensors and using elettromagnetic
I will get a optimum advantage on
a Thor(always -2 to hit cause is heavy)
instead loki get +3 x ecm effect.
Than a good arsenal will finish the job
summoner got only a better manuverability
but is not enough.
In a standard lvl rule instead thor is my
choice.

I will paly the devil's advocate on this one. ( with a condition)

If the Loki can use the equipment it has, then with the right piloting skills, the Loki can outlast the Thor. However, it needs to win quickly. A slugfest would not go the Loki's way as armor becomes more critical.

So, for a quick strike type engagement = Loki
Slugfest = Thor

I would have to go with the Thor using anything equal or better than Regular pilots. If the pilots are green the Loki has a better chance as the Thor's ammo supply becomes an issue. Even then I would have to probably give it to the Thor as it would still have the better movement profile, heat dispensation and armor.

More skillful pilots allows the Loki to take better advantage of its targeting computer. An elite pilot can use the location targeting ability to great effect.

I based my evaluation on the assumtion of average clan pilots in each mech, ie 3/4 pilots in both.

Hmm... the main advantage the Loki has over the Thor is firepower... but the Thor is better every other way.. and the Loki's armor is way to light. I think the added mobility of the Thor's jump jets helps it get targeting numbers to offset the targeting computer... so I will go with the Thor. As said above, the Loki needs to hit quickly if it wants to win...

Personally I would go for the Loki. The armor is lighter, but if the Thor tries to start jumping around he will drive his own target numbers up more than my own, due to the targeting computer. If the Thor stays on the ground, I can use the location targeting capability of the computer to work on any openings I might create after a few rounds of fire. The Loki's only true vulnerability is heat, but the targeting computer helps make those shots count.
