Here is the match up for this week. I thought something in the Assault class would stir some interest, so here it is:
The Banshee BNC-3S weighing in at 95 tons, or
The Highlander HGN-733 with 90 tons of devastation.
As always, I would like to see who prefers the Banshee over the Highlander or vice versa. Would your opinion or choice change if a.) the mechs faced off in open terrain with some hills and woods or
b.) the fight was taken into a city.
From others posts throughout the board the Highlander (no specific variant) has shown up on different occasions. However, the Banshee has not. Interesting....
So, here we have it. Will a well rounded, jump capable mech be more popular than a "reach out and spank someone" PPC juggernaut?
Let's see.....
(To all paintball players... doesn't the Banshee look like its wearing the VForce mask?)

Highlander, hands down! It's got the jump jets, and the Banshee has a super-vulnerable XL engine.

I can't believe I agree with this clanner...
I recall reading somewhere that the Banshee was a 95 Ton paperweight.

I'd advise both of you to take a look at the 3S...that mech beats a Highlander 733 without breaking a sweat.
They both have an AC10, but the twin PPCs of the Banshee crush the LRM20 of the Highlander.

The Banshee 3S doesn't have an XL engine...
I'll vote for the Banshee... even though it has less armor, it has a lot more firepower at short and long ranges. I also like that it is 4/6, even though it can't jump like the Highlander...

Uh, the Banshee -3S doesn't have an XL engine. It's a 3025 design.

Banshee is 3-5-0, Highlander is 3-5-3...with it's weapon load vs the Banshee's the fact the Highlander jumps doesn't help it much.

Here is another question by the way. Am I the only one who noticed that the reviews on these mechs are quite different? The Banshee carries a 4.43 rating while the Highlander carries a 1.9 rating. So if the law of averages is right then most people will prefer the Banshee over the Highlander. (just my 2 cents)
I voted for the Banshee btw. Even without the jump advantage, the Banshee just out shoots the Highlander. These 2 particular versions just do not fit well. The jump jets would give the Highlander an edvantage in the city, except that the LRM 20 is useless in most areas of a city.

The Banshee man!!! You pitted the best 3025 Banshee against the Highlander, which overall is the worst (imho) Highlander in any era setting. I normally don't like Banshee's, but that one is a rocker.

Simply put, Banshee.

Which is why I chose the Highlander in this particular poll: those PPCs start losing accuracy at close range, plus the fact that the Highlander has a better probability to maneuver real close, real fast and blast the Banshee from behind. (yeah, yeah, I know...easier said than done).

Like I said, look at the mechs again...the PPCs become harder to hit at a range of 3, the exact range that the 4 medium lasers hit short range.
The Banshee 3S is one of best 3025 mechs...

Whoops! I was looking at the wrong 'mechs; my original analysis stands for the Star League Highlander and the 3050 Banshee; the Banshee 3S is nasty though.

Definitely the Banshee...
Now, had you done level 2 versions, I'd likely have gone Highlander...
