Yup with the mace I dont mind hitting on the full body table. NO mech can survive a 80+ point blow to the leg. And NO mech will be in the fight for long when that 80+ points hits your left torse and ending in the center torso. If it hits and arm? Oh well. Goodbye arm and torso. Hope you can make it away before I get another swing

To me the mace is one of those things that should have never been intoduced into the game.
It is munchy to the max.

Nope...in fact I think I'm the only one of our "group" that's used one.
It doesn't fit the game IMO...

Brings me back to a game i played in the 3025 era. In a 4 on 4 fight my forces were getting creamed by an Awesome sniping with PPC's. I Ran my Hunchback at it, because of the high modifier the PPC's missed but I managed to nail the AC20 onto its leg, it ripped it off. Then all i had to do was sit back, bring the Jenner in and Kick it to death as it failed all its piloting rolls!

Ahh the old munchy term.
/shrug Oh well. I would rather have the Mace in game then pulse lasers or RAC's. Both of which are far more unbalancing than the Mace.

Anything that can do 80 points of damage to a single location is more than munchy.
Hell 80 points in a single hit is more than munchy. It is stupid.

80 damage is a Bit over the top at least with other weapons there are pro's and cons, such as pulse lasers (heat, range) and the RAC (ammo).
I find that some of the level three stuff has just made super weapons which do not need much skill to use, because there are very little cons with them. Unlike things like PPC (heat) and AC20 (range) where there were significant drawbacks. Some of the weapons take away alot of the strategy and just increase the action element. Which is a failing in games, if you can have a mace, you will not need any other physical attack. So whats the point? Even with a hatchet there were still times when a good kick or push would be more useful.

Be happy that both Pinhead & Wanallo replied before I did...although anyone that makes an asinine statement like that probably won't see their logic anyway.

Well some of came into the middle of existing games and just followed along with the group assuming they knew what they were doing. Besides that, I do not have the time to memorize the whole rule book, so little things like that get missed. We usually got picky if there was an arguement.

Lol Yeah I do see their logic which is why it will never get used in well over 99% of games. And why it will never have its Lvl 3 status removed, which is a good thing. Its a weapon I just find entertaining. For the most part if you know something is mounting that you dont get close to it and destroy it at a distance. Where as the Pulse laser and RAC you have no real chance of avoiding. They have a much longer reach than the mace will ever hope to have. Find my eariler statement asinine or not I still prefer that largly unused mace to the much over used Pulse and RAC Lvl 2 weapons that are now common in the cannon universe.

I like the mace over the sword. More damage, and a little easier to aim with than a hatchet.
My favorite would have to be the kick, though. I actually modified a Marauder with "toe claws" (I'd been watching Jurassic Park). That's probably my favorite. Run right up and kick 'em in the shin!
It also works wonders on hovercraft, Fenrir battlesuits (I still have the 'mech football' story around somewhere), and infantry.

I don't bother with hatchets, maces or swords. They just waste weight and space you could use for a ranged weapon or heat sinks. Besides, those things make you feel you have to get close to an enemy and use that club. It's a waste of good mechs, I tell you. You'll be drawing fire like crazy while closing in, and you'll also be taking physical attacks from your target.
Flashy clown tricks for Solaris VII, not a tactic for the battlefield.

You've obviously never had a mech that can move the speed of a light and deal the physical damage of a heavy, maybe even assault, but is medium class. TSM rules all baby, especially if the heat curve is perfected on it. I knew a guy who had a custom ride using TSM, he had a perfect heat curve, just drop 3ML and he was at 0 excess heat/turn, but since he started the turn at 9, he always stayed there. His punches often killed assault machines in our campaign.
