By Demos I take it you're talking about the Video Games. The Traditional Board game is considerable differant from the video games. but here are may favorites sorted by board game, and differant video games:
Jenner
PheonixHawk
Centurian
Zeus
Atlas

Yeah, I have played the video games. I hope to get MechCommander 2 or Mechwarrior 4: Mercenaries for my birthday. The Mechs are very good. I do have one of the Battletech novels (the one where the Clans invade for the first time).

You might want to try the 1st Mech Commander game as it was a decent game. Thereare a number of battletech novels that are a "must" read and everyone here can help you on which ones they are. If you have a local gaming store, see if anyone is running a tabletop game for newbies. Once you try it, you will be hooked.

I gues many would dispute my own choices but the ones I've read and liked are the following:
Michael Stackpole's Blood of Kerenski Trilogy and Blaine Lee Pardoes Jade Falcon Trilogy are good to learn about the Clans are good reads if you like to learn about the Clans.
A nice 3025 era books to read are Wolves on the Border and Heir to the Dragon by Robert N.Charrette.
I've been told that Wolf Pack is a kick ass story and is a MUST READ. Unfortunately I haven't been able to secure a copy.
There will probably be others who have their own suggestions, but the ones above should give you a good beginning.

I think Stackpole should be drawn and quartered, and then shot. The Jade Phoenix Trilogy by Thurston was good though...although he slipped with his later stuff.

To me I do have favorites, some based purely on looks..... Come on guys the Banshee with the shades just rocks, or the Clint has that slim with big gun... o hell just give me some mechs and lets roll some dice.
I find if you play RPG style, some preferences change. All that matters is you like them and you can utilize their strengths and hide weaknesses. As for the Cicada, you are just screwed.

I like the Twilight of the Clans series myself. I also like Blood of Heroes. And the Kerensky triology.

Stay at home to be with your wife before she burns all of your stuff while you are at the con. Or better yet bring her along just have the baby born at the convention.
