Do you have the Heavymetal program OD? If you do you should be able to copy and paste from the clipboard (that is what I generally do). Seems to come out just fine (atleast I havent heard any complaints on the format at least ).

Cut and paste from HMPro and then place < pre > Cut and paste < /pre >. just remove the Spaces btween the brackets and 'pre' & '/pre'

Never heard of it, I'm afraid.
I'm thinking that it wouldn't allow me to, say, put a quarter ton of MG ammo in each arm of a mech, like the Dog? Or is it scaled for that level of rules?

Actually if you went into the weapon creation tool you could set up the ammo bins however you like iirc.
