Anything men can think of, they can someday make real.
You know, it all makes you wonder just who the real inventors are. Are they the engineers who turn fiction into reality? Or are the real inventors the writers who thought of it to begin with, without which the engineers and scientist would have had nothing to inspire them.

We were talking about RAIL guns, not RAILROAD guns RArich. hehe. Although a 20' length of rail stucking out of a mechs leg after the first salvo would be a cool site.

Forget the mechs leg, can you immagine a mech getting it square in the cockpit with a construction girder?

I was just thinking of the occaisional field expediant for ammo. Heck look at Kai's escape from Alyina, a gauss rifle rigged up with a girder.
I was just trying to get a feel for the recoill on that. It would probably be the difference between a .22 and a .50 cal or better!
A chunk of rail iron sticking out of various parts of a mech would definately be a form of psychowar. Kind of like being shot by an arrow vs. a gun.

Actually it is both..
I had the chance to work with a guy named John Kuppenheimer, who was an incredibly intelligent and creative person. He was known as one of the leading experts on laser systems in the USA. The things this guy had in his head was absolutely amazing.
He wasn't a real designer, but he knew how engineering worked. He could tell you exactly what he wanted, and how he thought it might go together, and it was up to someone like me to boil that down into a system that worked together.
Working with him, I designed two things that were completely unique..
That particular set up happens alot.. Companies match up incredibly creative people with people who have a sence of design, and that type of a team can do pretty much anything.
