Vagabond had a thing about using Word and pre /pre code foo. I *think* he means what I'm about to try, but I dunno.
Anyway, this is an older design that I always liked, and it was convinient, but, I don't kow if teh coding will work.
Only one way to find out, I suppose.

The Cabellero was designed a scant three years after the Merlin rolled into production. The Free World's League, always hungry for a profit and having suddenly discovered a new market, broke from their usual pattern of mission-dedicated medium Mechs to create, instead, a wide-ranging, quite versitile Heavy mech which was suited for field work along the periphery, for sale to mercenary units, and served as an excellent, low-cost training mech for House Pilots.
Taking their cues from the Marauder, Warhammer, Thunderbolt, RIfleman, and, yes, even a small touch of the venerable Archer, the Free World's engineers designed the Cabellero to virtually meet the abilities of each: only in the duplication of the Archer did they truly fall shy.
The main weaponry of the Cabellero are the pair of arm-mounted Large Lasers. While somewhat lighter than the PPCs favored by the Warhammer and Marauder, the paired-weaponry was operationally comperable, making it a suitable stand in ... as the Rifleman and Thunderbolt *relied* on their Large Lasers, this was a non-factor. Handless, the Cabellero's secondary weapons, a pair of medium lasers, are contained in the Marauder-esque gunpods. While this prevents the heavy mech from engaging freely in melee combat, it was hoped that this would train the young pilots to rely on firepower, not muscle power, to carry the day.
Over the right shoulder is a missle quad-pod, based off of the Warhammer's six-pack. It's primary use is to finish off wounded mechs that have closed in with the Cabellero, but it's equally adept at thundering vehicles into scrap and dealing with pesky groups of infantry.
On the left shoulder is a tube-like missle launcher evocative of the Thunderbolt. A mere LRM-5 to the larger Mech's LRM-15, it provides a token sting while the Cabellero takes a fighting position, as well as provides just a touch more fire support for long ranged actions.
Lastly come a pair of basic .50 calibre machine guns, set high like the Warhammer, used to keep any enemy infantry at bay ... too often heavier designs go without these, and fall prey to daring rushes by men. The Cabellero pilot has no fear of this.
With such a large array of weapons of different ranges, heat dissipation isn't quite the issue it would seem at first glance. Indeed, unlike the Warhammer and Marauder, and to an extent the Rifleman, the Cabellero can keep up a constant fire from it's main guns, wary of heat only when on the move or when other weapons are brought to bear. Learning to wisely move between weapon systems as heat and battlefield conditions change is a difficult task, but one which Cabellero pilots master before moving on to better designs. Most importantly, the pilot of the Cabellero is never helpless, and always has *something* to contribute to the battle, blazing away while other designs struggle to keep under the heat red line.
The speed of the Cabellero is strictly average for it's size, meaning that trained pilots will have very little adjusting to do once moved onwards, and the lack of jump jets, something of an issue for Mercenary sales, is a non-issue in training, as these mechs also lack jumping ability. This keeps young pilots from learning tricks that will be useless on their new machines.
Lastly, the armor of the Cabellero is somewhat light, but, again, is on par with the Rifleman and Warhammer ... by learning in the Cabellero what kind of punishment they can absorb, cadets will know when to retreat in future battles.
As a general purpose mech solid to mercenaries as often as to training garrisons, the Cabellero was designed with heavier than usual rear armor, knowing well that many mercs face infantry attacks from guerrilla forces. The legs are lightly armored, but the twin machine guns generally keep at bay those troops who would rush and try to set demolition charges on vulnerable points. In the field, Cabellero pilots are advised to take cover to protect the fragile legs and minimize incoming fire.
While an overall solid design, the Cabellero has gotten very little exposure since the unveiling of LosTech. A low-cost training and merc-minded mech, investing the prescious new technology was seen as wasteful and unwanted, a choice which crimped sales in favor of newer, more modern designs. The low cost has kept sales brisk enough to consider it a success, if not a smashing one, and it seems as if the Cabellero will stay within the Inner Sphere for years to come.

Not good enough, yet. Lots of small formatting issues.
Must! Work! Harder!

Piece of paper and a pencil?
From there, I type it all into the old format I had for about three Mordel's ago, and it comes out looking pretty.
I think this one had an error in it (Something about having two LRM-5s instead of one, or being listed with one when it should have had 2 ... I'm not sure which offhand) but most are A-OK.
I specialize in classic designs. Mostly 3025 tech, but even the level 2 stuff *feels* like a classic, and that's important. Don't much cotton to the hyper-efficient but un-realistic 'Tourney Mech' style. For example, the Urbanmech makes me shed tears of joy, every time I see one. The Blitzkrieg is a repugnant piece of ASS that should never have been published.
See how that non-bias'd view works?
