Ok let's see some ideas for you folks on what is the best company setup for Battletech.
Please break it down by lances, the lances can be either mechs or vehicles. Infantry can be included if you want as can artillery and aerospace assets.
Please give a reason behind why you would put certain mechs or vehicles. If you happen to use special equipment then please point that to us.
If you have an idea for the background of the group that is fine as well.
Ok looking forward to what you post.

My company is something like 2 lances of mediums (stuff like Snakes, Vindicators, Centurions, Clints, Enforcers...all good mixes of firepower, armor, speed, and survivability. Plus they are all multipurpose) and a whole lance of Saladin hover-tanks. 8/12 speed with an AC/20. Watch what happens when I get in your back arc.
I might be tempted to trade out the Sladins for something like a YellowJacket (Vtol ith a guass rifle) Same reasons really

Hmm, let's go throught TRO 3025, pick out the ones that are essential, and maybe we'll just end up with a company, right?
Locust - love it. Fast, well-armoured, and almost carries a gun!
Javelin - not the munchy las variant. No puncy variants here, boy! Seeing as the 'mech is then NOT a maxi-mini 'mech, we're gonna have to put a question mark after it.
Urbie - because it's lovable. Another question mark, though.
Valkyrie - because it took me so long to get a metal model, and when I did, it looked SO COOL!
Panther - 35 tons, PPC, mmmhhhh....
Assassin - OHMYGOD, so underrated! If speed is needed in a company, this is the first and last word.
Blackjack - one of the most underrated 'mechs. I know, on the other hand, that if I take to the field in one of these, I'll be the last man standing. Not good for duelling, though.
Vindie - what can I say? Almost reaching perfection here.....
Trebuchet - perfect for hittin slow, big dudes.
Though on paper all the 4/6 50-tonners and all the classic 55-tonners look good, I've had my worst experiences in them, so they won't make the company!!
Rifleman - after the Blackjack, the next most underrated design! But it is a very common heavy, it features in a lot of Battletechnology photos and it RULES. Great for when the company has to go up in BV games. So yeah, all in all, we'll take TWO!!!
Catapult - there is nothing this one can't do.
Archer - REALLY good fire support.
Marauder - such a sexy 'mech...
Stalker - we need 1 assault 'mech..... also great for BV games.
Hmm, 15 'mechs. Out go Panther (too Kuritan), Urbie (too urban), Catapult (too rare), Archer (too specialised). Which means we can add the most important bit: A Cataphract. Such a God, this 'mech should never be missing in a 3025 force. Which leaves us with:
SCOUT LANCE:
Locust
Javelin
Valkyrie
Assassin
FIRE LANCE:
Blackjack
Trebuchet
Rifleman
Rifleman
COMMAND/ASSAULT LANCE:
Cataphract
Marauder
Stalker
Vindicator
Oooohhhh, can you here me cooing yet? I'd certainly love to take to the field with that unit. Can you tell that this is a real BT mech-fan talking, rather than a serious role-player?
Of course, this just concentrates solely on the 'mech aspect of things. Tanks would get this fan-boy in a new frenzy. And anyway, either the battlefield should be all 'mechs, or there should be a, say, 3:1 ratio of tanks to 'mechs. Which would make for a rather sad 'mech-company, quiaff? (Damn! It's a long time since I've used that one!) _________________ "Rear armour is defeatist!" - unknown Kuritan Mechwarrior
The AC5 is a great gun!

I will also go the 3025 route. I could do others but it is then cluter. Being a Kuritian it will lean that way.
Need a Scout, Attack, and Assault lance.
Assualt, (not meaning all assualts)
Tbolt- way to cool
Whitworth- small but fits the profile
Panther- same story
Archer- K verison of course
Attack
Dragon- Good mobility and fire
Griffin- as above
Ostsol- rare but works well, plus ugly as sin
Trebuchet- good support
Socut
Only need two types of mechs
Jenners
Locusts- becuase real men drive locusts
This fits the Draconis fast attack philopshy. We will call this bunch 3rd company of the 1st battalion of the Proserpina Hussars.
5 lights, 3 mediums, 4 heavies, notice no assualts. This is acutally a little light but Kurita was known for either lights or heacy/assault.
AWAD- Speed kills..... is also lets you get away
