It was for Rosey the Riveter. The women were doing the Production while the men were Fighting...

That's not very gay IMO.

As Sir Henry said, it's unintentional, it was addressed to women, but in our times, it seems naive at best or at worst... considering that sailors are a staple of gay porn...and the obvious symbolism *wink*
And don't look at me like *that* ! It's not my fault that in the store the books about classic pinups of the 50s are in the shame self as gay picture books!

Here is another question.
If this poster is promoting safety, why is the sailor carrying that large of a round barefoot?
That does not sound safe to me. OSHA would not approve that poster these days.

Hell, if OSHA had been around back then (assuming anyone paid attention to them), we'd be speaking either German or Japanese.

Yeah, I can agree with that. I workled at Yucca Mountain for a year, and all the classes I had to do because of the OSHA regs having to be complied with. Since it was a government contractor, all the I's and T's had to be dotted and crossed. I had an inch thick file before I even started Ohming out a wire, not from trouble like would normally be the case, but simply to document the 1st Aid, Underground, Fire Saftey, Electrical Saftey, Glasses and boots Issue, Helmet, escape breather and training, miner's light, etc., etc. etc.
I had an electricians job for 6 months after I finished Yucca. Got your Lid, Boots, and Glasses? good. Since you will be a helper follow Harry here- and be safe. Heck the foreman still didn't know me 3 months and about 100 houses later! I was just a name on the pay roster and no folder at all!
I know a company cannot make a profit and comply with all of Osha, most just hit the high risk points and give a "read and heed" for the rest on a bulletin board.

I used to work in the Lumber dept at Lowe's and lost count of the OSHA regs that were not followed. If you followed every little rule then you could not get your work done on time.
