People, just so you know, 4/6 is not below average for a heavy 'mech in 3025. So many of the reviews on the Technical Readout section of this site commit this error I felt the need to comment on it. There's also somebody who criticizes a 6/9/6 light as being somewhat slow, and a medium 5/8/5 as being slow. Sure, these speeds are a bit below average in the later eras, but in 3025 they're perfectly respectable.

O.K.I am one of the ones who consider a 6/9/6 mech slow even for 3025 ,there are a number of faster mechs in that time period the Locust is one that comes to mind the LCT-1E being particulaly formidable ,the Jenner is another especialy the JRF-7F.One problem i have with a lot of the 3025 lights is that they have weak armour and weapon load outs along with the slower speeds. Wasps and Stingers in particular are are poorly designed .I can tolerate a slower mech if it has good armour and weapons. But sadly too many 3025 lights do not.And I offer the Locust and Jenners as two examples of mechs that combine all three elements in to a potent mech.At this point I have only reviewed lights,I am a light mech specialist and I have not decided whether or not I will do the larger sizes yet.
One thing to keep in mind is that differant people have differant tactical styles and will look for differant features. This is why Mordel wants to have a number of differant reviewers.right now most of the reviews have been done by either Lt.Col.Daphne Wilde or myself .I think that if you dislike the reviews that are made that you should do your own.I generaly did one Weight/Era group a night.I think Daphne did more.It is not that difficult.
O.K. chihawk I corrected the punctuation,better?

Can you do me a favor Mo and translate that post into English? The lack of punctuation and grammar makes that next to impossible to read.

Check out the 'Mech seets in my TRO 3025 Revised (I'll have to call it "Reloaded" since there's an official 3025 revised readout, I think)

Fluff....fluff... fluf fluff.... Light mechs in 3025, in my opinion, are too slow, poorly built, and need more armor.... fluff... fluff.. fluf-fluf... I can design much better mechs... fluff .... flufff.
Flufffff fluff.. I play light mechs, because I like them... fluf... fluf... Locust and Jenners are good designs.. Fluff fluff.... |

Ok, thats what i got out of what Motown Scapper said...
I think he is one of those people that think all mechs should be able to have legs that rotate like the "Road Runner" cartoon.... wheeling overhead in a programmed semi-circular manner.. thus propelling him across the board fast enough to capitalize on movement modifiers, and unit speed tables...
Speed is a good asset... my preferred speed is 4/6/4, although I can make devistating use of 2/3/2, and 3/5/3's.

I do not think all mechs should be super fast just the lights the big advantage light mechs have is the ability to go very fast .I am known for my fast designs.I have a mech design:the Blizzard that has a 12/18[24][30] move it is a 25 ton Clan Ice Hellion omnimech with MASC and Supercharger and 5 tons of pod space. It is posted here I have a few other designs posted here .I stopped posting them because chihawk does not like the way I format them.I may start posting them again anyways.

I guess I will put my measly 2 cents in...
Speed is not important, it is how you use it.
(yes you can groan now)

I have used everything from a 2,3 assualt to my 12, 18 (24) light. Both can be great fun to play with. Especially on the same field. Does the phrase 'drawing in lambs to the slaughter' ring a bell?

| You absolutly correct, too many people think that the only thing that speed is important for is the to hit roll. They usualy lose. Speed is more of a tactical tool used to get you into the best tactical situation to maximize you ability to damage your opponant and minimize his ability to damage you.

Of course you can, but I am harsh on mechs also. It is not just speed that is important. Look at the Wasp, Drop the SRM 2, make it a ML and guess what 7/11/7 that is so much better. On the other hand 6/9/6 for a Firestarter, more than enough.
4/6/4 Enforcer is good, it is slow for that size but has good front armor, and good medium range weapons so this works. 4/6 Marauder or Warhammer, speed is fine. Actually 5/8 is stupid for them but works well on the Ost series mechs.
So yes any speed can be used, scenarios and terrain do make a difference but we are talking total design. It the balance of speed, firepower, and armor. If I slow, I better have armor, and good long range firepower. I consider the Zeus a good mech, Awesome is a tad bit better but 4/6 works for the Zeus and 3/5 for the Awesome.
So some of us prefer one item over the other two, thus difference in opinion and reviews, thus the average given.
The one major advantage of speed, I can dictate the battle location, both strategically and tactically.
AWAD- Any one calculate how easy it would be to make a Hunchback move 5/8???? Do it, field it, and at the last minute make it move 8, and watch your enemy freak

I agree the Locust and Jenner are exceptional designs; however, they do pay for their exceptional ground speed by sacrificing jump jets. In a duel, or on broken terrain, those jump jets can offer superior mobility. Additionally, lights don't have to take the roadrunner path. The Panther is also an exceptional design, and it only moves 4/6/4. The Valkyrie can be handy as well, and it's a 5/8/5. The Urbanmech also has some rabid proponents...I, however, am not one of them.

As for using speed to dictate battle location, that can depend on the scenario. Sure, you can run circles around those assaults, but if those assaults are guarding your objective, you are going to have to come to them if you can't trick them into stringing themselves out. Pilots of slower designs do need to discipline themselves however. They have less room for error in certain respects.

You have actually met someone who uses those POS mechs? WOW
I was tempted once, just once but only out of morbid curiousity.
