Can anyone confirm that Wizkids is negotiating with a Hollywood studio to have a movie version of Battletech/Mechwarrior (Dark Age based) produced? If so, I hope that with the advancement of special effects and general movie-making wizardy, this movie will not fall into the same trap as the sad B rated Mech-type movie from the early 90's.

Cannot confirm, tho if it is Dark Age based the plotline will probably be saidly lacking. I am not so sure that 'Mech sized chain saws are going to be that kool either.

*Goes off to count his cash to make sure he has enough to purchase LOTR Two Towers special edition tomorrow*

And on the Lord of the Rings point, did you hear that the movies climatic battle between Saruman and Gandalf has been cut from the movie? It will only be available in the Special Edition DVD set to be released later next year. Apparently, there is a huge backlash from fans acrossthe continent.

Now if you are Tolkein purist, then you might say "who cares" as Saruman does not fight Gandalf in the books, only the hobbits at the end of Return of the King. However, seeing as the director has made Saruman the bigger villian (i.e. more of an on-screen presence) and has taken some liberties already, why would he deprive the audience of a good vs. evil wizard match. The general audience and newbies to LOTR would love this. The actor who plays Saruman is boycotting the movie. That cannot be good.

Thoughts?

Same reason a half hour was cut out of the first LoTR.

Hollywood.

They dont really seem to care as much about a good consice story anymore. And my guess is if they can get an extra showing a day in with it being a half hour shorter then they will be happy.

I know he went back and refilmed some scenes for the movies but My guess is he wasnt happy with the original scene in the first place so he was happy to remove it and reshoot it at a later time.
