Ok this has been bugging me for a few days. I have some medical problems which makes it necessary for me to sometimes have an influx of sugar. Not diabetes, but its similiar to that. ANyway normally I take tea and honey (good for you too!) but I was at a banquet and had no access to tea and honey, so had coffee and sugar instead. My first cup of coffee.

AND IT SUCKED!! YUCK YUCK YUCK! HOW CAN PEOPLE DRINK THAT?! So i have to ask, are you a coffee or tea person, and if coffee, HOW HOW HOW HOW HOW HOW HOW HOW HOW?!

Raven, YUCK!

Well, I drink neither. I think tea is extremely repulsive. The only cup of coffee I drank I put so much sugar in it I might as well have just eatin the sugar straight from the packets. If I need sugar or something to keep me awake, I usually go for coke. Rots your teeth about as quickly as Coffee, but it must clean your system going down!

Coffee or tea, who cares? I'll drink both for the caffeine they contain, without even rinsing the cup in between. Coffee tastes good enough that I don't add sugar to it. Most tea sorts I've tasted require sugar. Both require a dash of milk, but I can go without if there's none to be had.

Just like Colas there are many different kinds of coffee, and as a coffee drinker I can tell you that many of them suck.

Coffee can be good, but find a brand or distributor that you like and stick with them. Dunkin Donuts has the best consistent coffee. For those in the Mid-Atlantic states Wawa has good coffee. Almost any coffee house will use premium beans and that reduces the acidity and volatiles that give low grade coffee a bad taste. I don't drink as much coffee as I once did but I like it with cream and sweetener.

I like iced tea with sweetener and lemon. Or earl grey with just sweetener.

Hi Raven,

the next time you are in the same situation, dont drink your coffee without milk, or cream which is even better !

With a LOT OF MILK ( 50% and maybe even more ... ) coffee has a totaly different flavour because of the fat of the milk
Those which dont like the taste of tea too, can add cream to their tea for the same reason.

As i dont like the bitter taste of pure black coffee too, i prefer to order a "Melange" = coffee with a lot of hot milk and give at least 2 spoons of sugar into my Melange

Here in Vienna coffee shops play a important role in our live. Just look yourself at:

http://www.viennaslide.com/p/0100-vienna/0106.htm

But i also like tea with honey, especially if it is a green tea ( which is usually soft enough so that you can drink it without sugar ).

I like neither coffee or Tea, but SWEET ICED TEA, of heck yeah, man is that good. I was suffering from withdrawl when I was living up in Newport last year, before I moved down here. Unfortunately, tea has some other bad medical implications for me. . . which can be quite possibly the most painful thing a men can endure.

Well, I like Iced Tea, but let's be honest. Lipton Iced Tea mixes aren't real tea. They're sugar with a hint of tea flavoring. People make real iced tea, but I don't like it since I don't like regular tea.

I agree that coffee shops are very important in Vienna. In fact, I only spent a few days there this summer, but, I miss the coffee shop atmosphere.

I'm not the biggest fan of coffee, but, I don't mind a cup now and again, and the same goes for tea.

Now, I'm also a big fan of Iced Tea, but, not the stuff you get at the fast food joints in the Western US... yuck! I don't get why you'd have unsweetened, and otherwise gross, cold tea in a fountain machine!?! Ugh!

Alexander (Big fan of Vienna... and Budapest!)

Well.. like many drugs, the first time you taste it it may be awful. Ít takes a time to get used to it to start enjoying it.

Many things can go wrong with a cup of coffee, for starters, coffee is really bitter, and that turns off many people, even if you put sugar on it, if it was not enough, or you don't stir it to dissolve the sugar as I suspect happened to you.
As chihawk pointed out, cheap coffee sucks, and even a good coffee can be ruined because the person that brewed it did it wrong. Too much coffee, too little, there's nothing worse than cold or lukewarm except coffee burned coffee.

It's just a question to get used to it, and good coffee indeed has a pleasant and distinct taste to it. And the smell is wonderful.

I think tea taste is repulsive.. I drink only it for digestive purposes , and only after pouring so much sugar on it that it crystalizes.

I love coffee because of it's stimulant properties. I''ve become dependent on caffeine to survive. Instead of drinking blood I drink the dark rich concoction. Coffee does away with fatigue, keeps me awake, stimulates my mind, and is a mild aphrodysiac, though wether that is due to the effect on the blood flow, or the pressure of a full bladder is debatable

I find pouring milk on coffee is disgusting, many people do that to disguise the flavor of coffee.

Let's admit it, coffee is bitter, and few people like its taste, so most people disguise it with milk and sugar.

I think warm milk tastes foul unless is chocolate flavored , I think it's counterproductive because hot milk makes you sleepy, and the purpose of coffee is to keep you awake, I want my cup full of the biggest volume of coffee to get the biggest possible dose of caffeine
And anyway, coffee with milk is a bad idea, it forms a chemical mix that wreaks havoc in the digestive system. In short, it gives you the runs.

I like my coffee like this

black as the devil
pure as an angel
hot as hell
and sweet as love

Or as my grandmother would say, "the squirts".
