Did construction rules for these ever materialize or did that idea die? I remember someone discusing it. I have a few ideas worked out and with rules, but would like to know if their is anything official before posting.
Thanks in advance,
Your Lord and God,
Raven!

I get most of my books from either the local hobby shop (Ryders Hobby shop), or Barnes and Nobles book store. between the two I don't miss much.

IIRC, I saw a BA creator as a download on PRI (Pryde Rock Industries --> pri.mgonetwork.com --> temporarily down). Whether this is acurate to the rules, i don't know. Hope that helps.

The program on PRI works with a ruleset that was superceded some time ago. There were a number of changes to the rules after the program was written and the rules as published are different yet again. You can either wait for HMBA (approx. end of the year), write a spreadsheet for yourself, or use the good ol' pencil and paper method.
PRI is back up again:

Ah, ok, good to hear PRI is back up again, and I didn't realize that editor was so out of date O.o.... but that's why I use stock BA. Gotta love a formation of those buggers latching onto a foolish Atlas in cities....

Atlas may be fun but there is one group that they are brutal to, vehicles. Swarming vehicle is death. I did give the drivers an option; shake them off.
The rule was if swarmed, the vehicle had to move at flank speed, use all MPs and turn at least twice, no firing allowed. If the driver then made a succesful drive roll, simple skill +2 for flank, then the BA guys had to make an attack roll, simple piloting (gunnery for most of you) + hexes moved modifier to stay on. So most of the time the BA remained on the vehicle, but this did give them a chance. Many a tracked vehicle died this way, and a handful of hovers did manage to save their ass.
AWAD- Lt Wolfcloud did a hot drop with his BA unit right in the middle of a tracked tank company.... not pretty for the militia tanks

So, AWAD, have you given the BA construction rules a whirl yet?
You can create some pretty nice suits with them...I have a few dozen designs around here somewhere myself...

I long used a rule of thumb aproach to the Battle armor. I guess it will be time to go canon once the rules come out.
I used a subtitution rule, swapping the SLas, Gauss, or arm mount heavy weapon for something different. Similar for the Backpack heavy weapon. The MG that was used for antipeople work could be swapped with any number of standard small arms.
Using Mechwarrior RPG weapons some pretty nasty combos can be made up. some can even out shoot elementals firepower wise.
The Cyberpunk RPG PA suits are pretty nasty. If I could adopt those directly into Battletech, Infantry would once again rule the battlefield.
Mechs would have to keep moving or have the PA catch up, once that happened there would definately be a dead mech. Running into a squad of these, with each suit avereaging about 5 points of BT damage, would mean 25- 40 points of armor off of your legs in one turn. Pilot check, with a leg coming off real soon. only heavies or assaults would have the armor to stand up to this, and the firepower to take out the squad quickly enough.

maybe some form of A-pod might provide a better solution for those vehicles? even in an elemental suit having a shaped charge go off under your belly can't be good.
