Ya know, you can always start it up on our Saturday games. Just as soon as we all die in our current Champions adventure, that is.

A doesn't like Battletech, and I doubt we'll get C to play it...too bad 'cause I got tons of good stuff for it.

Then we'll need to find people who can and are willing to play it. That's all. I bet if A had the option to either play that or nothing, he'd play.

Yes, the Charger I was using in Mordel's "sudden impact?" game was a very good design. forgot the numerals, but it had an AC 20 LBX, and like 4 ER mediums, 5-8-0 with masc and a Light engine. Very nice fighting machine.

The Charger was on of those Mechs that screamed for XL or light technology. Since it sucked so bad the ensuing Mech looks like royalty. The upgraded versions are good but not great.
As for the old 3025. It was a great machine to screw with the PCs. Intelligence says you are going an assault mech, or get into a fight in a box canyon and ones shows up behind you, or use it to charge right at the biggest mech, which forces them to shoot at it, while better mechs get into position.
As for mech units. My guys went through hell. Some had permenant damage but nothing to bad. My favorite was jacking with them when they modified mechs. Then the problems stuck, until they could figure them out and fix them. This allowed a lot of minor mods to the PC unit, but few drastic overhauls.
AWAD- What do you mean my sensors just went off line?

yeah, that's the one I was using, excellent design!

The 3025 Charger sucks. I have trouble deciding which is worst, though, the Oscout, Charger, or Assassin.

Tough decision. It would probably be the Assassin that's worst. The 7/11/7 movement is good in a scout, but it costs too much for a 40-tonner. In terms of armor and weapons as well as C-bills, that is. You can do the same with something more efficient, like a Spider that's faster and lighter.
The Charger can be refitted with a smaller engine and more guns, at least. Assault mechs weren't meant to go that fast in 3025 anyway.
And the Ostscout is perfect in it's designated role as a scout mech.

I won't buy Assassins or Ostscouts just for hunting Chargers, OK? My comparison had nothing to do with which of them can kill which. It was about how useful the machines are for normal operations.
The Ostscout is a perfect scout.
The Charger can be rebuilt into a real assault mech.
The Assassin is mainly a waste of C-bills.

'sassin... wellllll I can see why you don't like it in its LISTED Config.. but that can be fixed.......
The Charger.....LORD above why bother....!
The Oscout... Now here is a nice machine just in need of some "special" attention. ( Mine makes a raven look stupid. and I LIKE ravens!) if you give this here mech just a 'lil tender lov'in its one of the best around....

Actually there is a 3025 version of the Charger that certainly rocks and it inspired the 2A5. The CGR-1A5 Charger is a nasty monster that certainly can pound the snot out of any 'Mech smaller or the same weight as itself. And can kill mechs even bigger. I have been championing another on too... 3A5 which would not have an XL or Light Engine and would be a terror on the battlefield! muwahahahahaha

The 1A5 is kind of funny. It solves the problem of the charger by making the 'mech not a charger.
There's just no way to fix it with a standard engine at 5/8. _________________ Happyness is just a word to me

I've seen at least one mini for the Cappellan AC/20 refit. Does anyone know which version of the Charger mini is the one in production?

Actually its a compromise. In order to make it more usable dropping a Pitban 320 in and lowering the speed only slightly has turned a useless Assault Scout into a real Assault 'Mech. The SA5 is an improvement over it, but I don't like the use of the Light Engine to achieve it. My fix retains the original Pitban 320 of the 1A5 for better survivability. I dropped the MASC, one of the SSRM-6s and two double heatsinks. Added a ton of ammo for the LB20X and then installed TSM and kept all three ER Medium Lasers. Finally I installed 4 JumpJets.
This makes for a better 'Mech in ranges of point blank to medium with the speed and maneuverability to get in close and with a devastating weapon, lay waste to opponent. Then it can beat you to death with its armored fists and kicks when the TSM is activated. Oh yeah.. Death From Above. I love the Charger and find it one of the more interesting BattleMechs on the field. I'd like to get enough of the miniatures and deploy a regiment of them, painting them with the colors of either powder blue or dark blue with white and gold highlights. Oh yeah can't forget the Lightning Bolts either!
