Clausewitz

Chassis: Standard
Power Plant: GM 300
Cruising Speed: 32.25
Maximum Speed: 53.75
Jump Jets: Unknown
Jump Capacity: 90 meters
Armor: Standard
Armament:
2 PPCs
7 Medium Lasers
Manufacturer: Kallon Industries
Primary Factory: Talon
Communications System: Exeter Longscan 200
Targeting and Tracking System: Federated Hunter

Overview:
Named for the Prussian General Karl von Clausewitz this battlemech in it's time had Savaging firepower but also the heat troubles that plauge the Stalker.

Capabilities:
The Clausewitz requires it's pilot to keep a close tab on his heat but in a cold environment can bring to bare the kind of firepower that few mechs of it's day could match. Jump Jets make up for this mech's slower movement rate, combined with it's hatchet it can kill most unsuspecting mechs with a single blast. Though it's high heat makes an Alpha strike impossible in all but the coldest places the Clausewitz is a thinking man's mech. Two PPCs give the Clausewitz it's ranged bite while seven medium lasers combine for a withering close range barrage.

Deployment:
Designed with the express purpose of Invading Tharkad if a civil war were to ever break out the was never deployed and only a few were ever produced and all of them fell into the hands of the Hyperion Legion Mercinares as payment for a raid into Liao space. When the Hyperion Legion was disbanded all of mechs in their possesion were transfered to Xun's Raiders. Sadly only three of these mechs survived to see the Civil War that they were designed for, and only one of the three saw action on the Steiner Capital world.

Battle History:
The Clausewitz saw only limited action in any major conflicts and were mothballed for most of the 3050s and 60s with the introduction of the Scipio.

I built in design flaws, I didn't want a "perfect" mech. I'm currently using this design in the 3025 campain we have going and it's proved to be verry effective, more so with the house rules on amubushes.

oh and Vagabond, I'll keep that in mind next time I post a design and get it tested. I make a lot of 50 tonners but most aren't up to par.

Against a competent opponent this mech would be easy pickings, even in a level 1 game.

If that mech had been tested prior to it's being built the PPC would have been moved to the arm.

it was tested, like I said, I left it with a weakness... mostly because I know they some of them will be salvaged by my opponents and this way I know how to take it down.

You do realize that if an opponent salvages them their going to rip the parts off and put that stuff on good mechs?

And even if they would keep them intact and use them what does that say to the pilots of the machines? Great for morale knowing their fighting in a machine that isn't supposed to win.

Underestimating the inteligence of your enemy gets you killed very quicky.

thats the sad part, I'm not underestimating these guys. every last one of them is a "stand and deliver" player. They have no tactical prowess what-so-ever. The guys that player as Lyrans fit the part VERY well though.

I agree with Chihawk, every 'Mech will have flaws, no need to build them in...

And this mech has a lot of issues...moving the PPC to the LA only solves about 1/3rd of them.

It's a role-playing thing, I'd suspect. And some people like to test their skills by fighting in a less-than-perfect mech. Makes it more of a challenge when fighting new players, for example.

FASA/Fanpro has more than enough bad mechs that there's no need to create any .
