It's a trade-off you have to do. An assault fitted with an XL engine often gets too much tonnage for the remaining critical slots.

I wouldn't call this totally bad, though. You've added a second PPC, which keeps the Battlemaster in the arms race against newer designs. The only thing I'm leery of is keeping the SRM system in an XL-equipped mech. It isn't good for a mech that'll draw a lot of fire just based on it's reputation for being tough.

Take the ECM off...it's worthless.

My one complaint is that the Streak 6 (last I checked) was exclusive to only the DCMS.

Im never sure anymore of what is region specific. I actually wish that the HMPro would differentiate for you. But that sounds little overly complex. I was torn with the SRM system I actually will probably remove it and replace it with something else.

Or with a little alterations what you could do is say that this represents a Kuritan refit kit for Battlemasters. I think that they might have captured a handful during the Succession Wars and I'm not sure but I seem to recall that Comstar also once sold them a few.

wouldn't be any harder than sorting out IS and Clan tech.

I don't know the exact reason why, but it's not as easy as that.

Well, yes it would be a bit harder. Not impossible, of course, but more complex. First, there would have to be a way of setting up for each weapon, like for each 'Mech, what the usage is. But more than that, usage alone is not enough. In fact, it really isn't enough, and trying to get it the way it would need to be, gets ridiculous.

Example, the Daishi (Dire Wolf) is obviously a Clan-only 'Mech. Originally a Smoke Jaguar 'Mech, it was a favorite there in 3050, during the Clan invasion. So, of course they get it. Do all the other Clans get it? In 3050? 3055? 3067? How about Kurita? Even in 3050, there were rumors that Kurita captured one intact. Okay, they /may/ have had /one/ in 3050? Are they on the "available" list? How many have to be captured to be on it? Or do they have to be manufactured by them?

Same with weapons. One faction may manufacture the weapon, so they get it. But they also sell it. To whom? When? How long does it take other factions to get the weapon? Shorter for allies, longer for enemies. Do captured units count? Again, the year makes a big difference.

So, even /deciding/ what factions get what weapons is going to be a real pain. And even then, it only applies to a specific time or era. Used to be, the Inner Sphere didn't have Streak 4's and 6's, even though they had 2's. Later they got 4's and 6's. Anyhow, even if all this information /were/ available, and was accurately implemented, people won't agree. I'm Clan Ghost Bear, but I want to use ProtoMechs. You're Kurita, but the Heavy Gauss Rifle sounds good to you. So after all that work, I think most designers will ignore the rule anyhow.

That's my slant on it, anyhow; a lot of work for something of questionable accuracy and usefulness for the majority of players. Wink
