==Overview:==
To me, the Banshee was a good idea poorly executed. In an attempt to make the
unit a good brawler, it was left woefully undergunned and with thinner than
normal armor.

There was one advantage that it did have- at 4/6 it has better than expected
speed for its size. I decided to leave the speed alone and see what I could do
with the weapons and armor. The armor I switched to Ferro, helping to solve
matters. In addition, I switched over to DHS; being able to drop down to the
original 10 HS gave me precious tonnage to play with. Included in this tonnage
was the ability to add CASE.

I downgraded the AC/5 to an AC/2 and added an LRM 5 to give the unit much
needed (albeit token) ranged hitting power, supplemented by the PPC. The
location of the LRM also adds some flexibility to the firing arc.

As far as the short range weapons go, I upgraded the small laser to a medium
and added another medium in the left arm. While still only token short-range
firepower, the addition of an ECM in the center torso helps to compensate.

You mention the original is undergunned and then make a version with an LRM5 and an AC2?

Doesn't really add up there...

What I noted was that the two main weapons is that they have the same range. What I tried to do was to give it a weapons load that could cover short, medium, and long ranges. I do admit tho that the long range is just token firepower. It's better than nothing.

And the ECM ought to help it out a little.

I know that; like I said, I was just trying to see what I could do without ripping the engine out for a smaller one.

Although I do admit that the 3S is rather potent.

DHS are good, weapons load-out is bad. I suggest you change it to a PPC, LB-10X with two tons ammo and two medium lasers. That leaves room for 15 tons FF armor and CASE.

==Overview:==
     The BNC-3E Banshee was an early 'Mech design, produced in the same era
the MCK Mackie and the EMP Emperor. Tipping the scales at 95 tons, it is al
one of the heaviest 'Mechs ever built.
     This upgrade was an attempt to breath new life into an ageing design, 
minimum cost and difficulties.

==Capabilities:==
     As noted above, the Banshee's main role was as a close-assault vehicle
Indeed, its powerful fists and legs can turn lighter 'Mechs to scrap. This 
feature was kept in this upgrade attempt but enhanced thru the additionof 
Triple Strength Myomers.
    The original banshee suffered from inadiquate weaponry. In attempts to 
both cost and redesign down the team attempted to work around the existing 
securment points. In a bold move the PPC was replaced with a lighter and le
damaging ER Large Laser. The light caliber Autocannon was replaced with an 
unconfentional LRM 15 Rack with Artimes IV FCS. 
     Four Medium Lasers where added to the chassie, a pair center line and 
in each arm. Lastly a SRM 6 Rack was piggy backed to the LRM Rack in order 
increase short range punch.
     In order to create weight for these weapon systems the mechs internal 
regulators where switched with double capacity sinks. Increasing heat reduc
while lowering overall weight. 
      This weight saving would not only go into new weapons, but also 
increasing the total armor weight by several tons. In addition the armor wa
replaced for newer Ferro-Fiberous variants, increasing coverage per ton.
      Lastly the left torso was modified to carry CASE. Preventing the comp
destruction of the unit do to an ammo explosion.
      Overall these modifications have increased these units usefullness. 
Doubling infighting while drasticly improving Long range firepower.

==Battle History:==
     Many commanders considered the Banshee a liability rather than an asse
battle. In desperation, they began to deploy them as fire support or as hea
reserve to stop breakouts or for hand-to-hand combat when the better-armed 
'Mechs had engaged the enemy at close range.
     This practice continues in the Successor States. Those Banshees not 
deployed on backwater planets or with small militia units are usually found
the second line of advance, or in rear areas providing autocannon and PPC f
to support the advance of other 'Mechs.
     Although House Steiner's Banshee-S variant has yet to be tested in bat
the new model may herald a rebirth for the beleaguered 'Mech.

     Remove SRM's, upgrade ER LL to PPC, add 1 DHS.
     Remove LRM's, add RAC/2, add 1t ammo.
