I would give you my review of the new online game for Star Wars, but I've been away from Corellia for five minutes now and I really must get back.

That's the buzz here too. 100 sq miles of Planets, Awesome screenshots and amazing character looks....

50 to 80 bucks is too much for me, though.....

Do you get to fly anything? I want a TIE Advanced so I can destroy Flying Bathtubs, aka X-wings.

I want a TIE Defender, nothing like the speed of a TIE interceptor with the guns of a B-Wing ^_^

Unfortunatly I'm VERY broke at the moment and would only be able to play the game for around 2 months before I leave for college and once there I would lack the time/net speed to play it. On the plus side theres like 5 CS clans there.

No vehicles or spacecraft yet, just running around on the ground with shuttleports for intercity travel and spaceports for interplanetary travel.

One of the the big "different from all others" deals is the economy and wounds. There are no NPC vendors save for junk dealers that pay a few credits each for broken items gained as loot. Which means they probably have some other purpose. The only way to buy or sell is with other players one-on-one or through the auction terminals. So no selling of unwanted lowest level weapons to NPC vendors to make money. If nobody else wants to buy it, you might as well just destroy it. The CDEF brand weapons are the starting weapons and the ones being gained as loot right now. I have a few for sale (unlikely), the rest I just destroyed last night, more than a dozen pistols, carbines, and rifles along with a bunch of knives and staffs I knew no one would likely buy if I put them up for auction.

The other main thing is wounds, 2 kinds battle wounds that can be healed in the field (if you can heal) and real wounds that require a hospital for health and action wounds or a cantina for mind wounds and battle fatigue.

In the hospital you can sit on the floor and wait a long time and you will heal. Or a player can heal you. You get zero xp for healing yourself, only for healing others.

In the cantina, you can sit on the floor and wait a long time to heal. Or you can sit down and watch someone who is dancing (the entertainer profession) or playing music (which is pretty cool to watch and hear). Tipping of both medics and entertainers is encouraged, 50 credits is the usual tip I give. I don't tip medics since I am one too. I heal them, they heal me.

When gaining skills, you have to get enough xp, and then get trained. NPC trainers are plentiful, but cost more and more. Players mostly train for free. To master a profession requires apprenticeship points, gained by training people.

So in addition to fighting and gathering stuff, you can plan to spend a lot of time just hanging at the medical center and cantina shooting the breeze while you get healed or heal someone else.

You can't master every profession of course, and you only get one character per server. Word has it that if you gain the ability to have a Jedi character, that's a second slot per server. But word has it that Jedi characters experience permadeath when killed.

If you want to change what skills you have have, you can cancel a skill and get back the skill points (not the xp) and go learn a different skill. Say you have become a Master scout and decide you would rather be an artisan and make stuff. No problem aside from the time needed to gain all those xp to become a master artisan.

I recommend getting the cheater book for a 3 reasons. It shows each skill and skill level and what abilities you gain at each leve. It has Maps of the cities showing where to find trainers and buildings. And the lists of mobs, their levels, and whether they are pack mobs or not. With a pack mob, you attack one, you'll fight them all. An important thing to know before you start shooting.

Warning, use the /consider command on targets before shooting. The listed level as I've learned don't always mean the same thing. A level 6 town kook I can take out no problem. But a level 6 Corsec sgt. is something I just can't deal with alone, last night it took 2 of us and several times each getting knocked out or killed to get that sgt. And it ain't cause he had a better gun, I looted the basic CDEF gun off him. I guess they just rigged it that way. That or he had armor and I didn't.

Anyhow, back to Corellia!
