Since mostly everyone uses battlemechs, I was wondering how you guys use infantry. I am talking about pretty much every non-battle armor and non-anti-mech infantry as well.

I also forgot to mention that if you have a different tactic please post it. I use them as a meat shield, or at least something to slow down the enemy's movement.

You don't have an option for how I use them, so I chose "hide them."
I only use infantry in urban settings and usually they are hidden units on the map. I use them primarily for ambush and hope to do a few extra points damage to a major unit.

we of the rightious fighters use infantry in the way they should be. as the protectors and scavengers of the battle field.
a large detachment can be used to bait an enemy into a position of disadvantage. where there armored calvary brothren reduce the oppressive dogs into the base componets.
all would do well to not under estimate the longest lived weapon of man..... man.

Ambushes and surprises, mostly. I've seen light scout mechs get so badly mauled by rifle infantry that they had to run away.

Indeed, BattleMechs may be kings of the battlefield, but never underestimate the lucky guy with a rifle. I've seen infantry kill 'Mechs with headshots and they are a definate threat to tanks and light 'Mechs. Espicially those without machine guns or flamers.
I tend to use infantry as bait and ambushers. And I always have APCs for a quick evac. If things go wrong, a couple artillery shells will give enough time to move everyone outta there.

Infantry are excellent in urban warfare. Also, try using them in prepared positions with preplotted artillery. Very, very effective against anything except tactical nuclear weapons.
Plus, no matter how many mechs you have you still need someone to go into the city and pacify the populations. A mech can smash a building, but it can't go inside and get one man out.

I've used motorized (non-antimech) infantry for their decent movement rate and low low low BV.
I usually have them tag along with the slow big boys to discourage BA or vehicles from coming to close, and to pounce on anything that manages to get immobilized or shut down in some way.
I'm often amazed at how much fire they draw that would otherwise scratch the paint on my shiny mechs.
Worst case scenario, they are cheezy initiative sinks.

I think infantry could give a tactical
advantage on the field,for example
if player A got infantry, instead player
b no,than player A gain a bonus for the
initiative roll..
Otherwise in a tournament scenario is
good like a cheerlady.....

I altered the rules to stop the above issue. I still have the Bmech as the king of the battlefield but give the infantry some bite. The other reason, many mechs would keep MGs as it is a cheaper and more efficent means of mowing down infantry.
But as is, either as a delaying force /slash protect something more important while they get mauled or I use them to ambush with. Get enough of them and get a jumpless, no anti infantry weapon mech, and you can chew them up.
I never understood motorized infantry, the writers were on crack. Either jump of foot. You may have mechanized, IE ride on a big vehicle. Motorized may have been cool if they had real movement like 4/6 or 5/8.
