Okay, I finally found out that the Illuminati from PARANOIA come from a Steve Jackson Game of the same number, wich in turn come from a sci-fi book called "The Illuminatus trilogy" and that's the origin of the FNORD
Now I have to ask, it's the book worth reading?
I'm wary of supposedly "cult" books ever since Catch-22 turned out to be a disappointment

What you are looking for does not exist, or is merely a consequence of government experiments with weather balloons. I suggest you stop pursuing it now. There is no Illuminati. You will obey.

*I have never read the books, but I can vouch for the Steve Jackson game. It is a heck of a lot of fun (better than Btech, IMO).

I think I still have that book around here somewhere. Haven't read it in at least a decade, but I seem to remember liking it.
I don't seem to recall that the trilogy wierded me out or anything, certainly not like reading the Amityville Horror did. But then when I read that one I was 12 or so, it was real late at night, and my bed was right next to this large window with a huge, looming, rustling, scary bush just the other side it. I really should have waited another year or two before I read that... *bump* aaaagggghh! _________________ "Those who beat their guns into plows will plow for those with guns..." -Thomas Jefferson

Ok. there are two books here "The Illuminatus Trilogy" and "Shroedenger's Cat" both are HILLARIOUS. Illuminatus you should read first, then Cat. They are incredably wacked out though, funny as sin, and if you have a fairly good knowledge of american history you can appreciate the funniest jokes (for example, a sex, rather then being referred to as F*cking is refered to as Potter Stewarting). Its a great set of books and I give it 10 feathers.
