I am trying to decide on the best designs for something I am working on (guess!).

I have become pressed for time recently, and would appreciate suggestions. I am looking for 16 Medium, 3 Heavy and 3 Assualt mechs, with a max of 5, 2 & 2 designs respectively. Someone else is already doing the Lights (there are 10), but I would appreciate suggestions on these also.

All designs need to be Pre-Exodus, and there must be a Warhammer, Marauder and Pheonix Hawk LAM in the mix. Could you also give a short explanation on why you chose these. You can choose mechs that make use of the higest tech available at the time.

Thanks.

I would think we would have to know what it is you're working on first before we could suggest anything. Or at least, I would have to

Its for the Interactive Fan Fiction I've got going ever at Ricks HMP site.

Basically (for those that don't have time to read the story) I am looking for some hi-tech mechs from shortly before Kerensky's Exodus (like a few weeks before).

These are from an old SLDF base, which was SOTA for its time.

The designs that must be included have been written into the story as personal mechs of a few of the characters. The rest are free to decide on.

hmm, well for pre-exodus. My first thoughts are a HGN-732 Highlander and EXT-4D Exterminator. You can't get much more high tech than the original EXT's null-signator system. Of course, you could just use normal stealth armor instead on it if you dont wanna use the lvl 3 tech. The HGN because, well, I've just always thought it to be a cool star league mech.

As for other stuff. Um, well maybe a MON-66 Mongoose and HSR-200-D Hussar for recon/strikes. Mongoose is probably one of the best light mechs i think. Plus it has BAP. Hussar makes for a good hit and run sniper. As long as you don't get hit or trip that is.

Not sure what else to suggest other than maybe a KGC-000 King Crab for pure brute force. And maybe a CHP-1N Champion and/or a LNC-25-01 Lancelot. Champion is a decent mech, just has some heat problems. Lancelot makes for a good long range strike mech. It's about as fast as some light mechs, even though it's a heavy. Which can also be said about the EXT.

I wouldn't use the CHampion. Its got some problems. The engine is way too big since its not XL, which shortchanges the rest of the mech. I'd put in the Flashman, which is a prime show of good engineering. The Crab is also a really good mech...

Try a Black Knight for a command mech. It has BAP and the desc mumbles something about its SL linked to its BAP...

Okay. I have been looking at it, and here’s what I am now thinking:

Lights[10]:
----Stinger LAM (variant suggestion appreciated)
----Mongoose MON-66
----Hussar HSR-500-D
----DESIGN TBA
----DESIGN TBA (If at all)

Mediums[16]:
----Kintaro (variant suggestion appreciated)
----Pheonix Hawk LAM (variant suggestion appreciated)
----Wyvern (variant suggestion appreciated)
----Exterminator EXT-4D

Heavys[3]:
----Warhammer (variant suggestion appreciated)
----Maruader (variant suggestion appreciated)

Assaults[3]:
----King Crab (variant suggestion appreciated)
----HGN-732 Highlander

So what do people think of these?

I am now leaning towards only 4 Light designs (I have listed three), but 5 would open up more tactical options.

Mostly it’s just the type of mech, and not the specific variant listed.

If you have any more comments, I’ll need them by tomorrow, because that’s it.
