I once brought up the issue of split-timelines and was told it might not happen for a while if at all. Well, rapidly I have been losing hope and interest in even having them do it. If FanPro makes an alternate timeline, excellant. I'll most likely buy the books and such. However, I think it's time for me to split with the mainstream and produce the "Perfet Sphere", as it were. However, although I am prepared to work alone, it need not be that way. I think that many of you hold hope for the future and would like to help. For my part, I've built a framework of things I'd like to see happen, though I'm will to compromise in most areas if it means my idea is more widely accepted. After we get some of this hashed out, I'll post it on my site with histories, explanations and even TRO/Sourcebooks for our project. Thanks in advance to those who choose to participate.

Major Changes from the MW:DA Timeline:
1) The Chaos March continues to exist. (I could use ideas on why the Houses can't dominate it though.)
2) The Word of Blake Jihad didn't go nearly as well thanks to a spy. Terra goes back to Comstar.
3) Marik doesn't slide into complete chaos, though they get a civil war and lose some worlds to the Capellans. Afterward, they become united for once.
4) The Star League does not disband, though it doesn't get involved in all conflicts.
5) The Grand Council (despite heavy resistance) manages to somewhat unite the clans, much like the Star League does for the Sphere. (Done for balance, really.)
6) I call the Lyran Alliance the Lyran Commonwealth 'cause Peter changed the name back. (This is really just a personal thing, I like the Lyran Commonwealth designation more than the Lyran Aliiance.)
7) Anything else?

FedCom Goverment:
1) Yvonne gets her five years military service and become First Princess instead of Regeant.
2) Peter continues doing that Archon thing he does. The LCAF begins to slowly crawl out of their sinkhole. (Although I don't mind Steiner being the least effective military in the Sphere, they need to improve. Even the CCAF can mount decent offensive operations.)
3) Suggestions?

Tech Levels:
1) Periphery States (And I'll be creating a few more. Maybe even one for the Blakists if they have fans for some reason.): Level 1 and Level 1 1/2.
(Level 1 1/2 are often refitted Level 1 machines that don't use the new technology very well. Some examples can be found in the TRO:3050.)
2) Inner Sphere Houses: Level 1, Level 2
3) Comstar: Level 2, Level 3 (Don't mess with Comstar...seriously.)
4) Clans: Clan Tech
5) Clan Wolverine: Level 1, Level 2, Level 3, Clan Tech (You use what you can get your hands on.)
6) Pirates: Similar to Wolverine.
7) Suggestions? Did I miss an area?

Questions:
1) How can the Chaos March be independent? (Or does no one care if it is reabsorbed?)
2) What should I do with Clan Wolverine? I want to bring them back.
3) How much havoc should I let the Blakists cause?
4) Any ideas for new periphery states?

I would like to ask that in this thread and discussion you not go to extremes to try and make others believe as you do. I imagine that most of us are rather hard-headed on this board so it would do no good. Anyway, I'm not trying to make something perfect for any one person, but rather an Inner Sphere that is widely acceptable to most of us on the board.

EDIT: Ah, yes. I plan the split for right after the Civil War.

well as far as tech lvls go my opinion is that anythng is availible to anyone it is just alot harder to find(depending on what it is) and not in a great quantity(usauly, and now especialy after the civil war). The way you have it above defines for the majority though.

cappy invasion::::::

i think it makes since for the crappy cappies to invade the crappelan march(seems like something suny would do)in there weekened state they would pobly lose a few worlds and who knows mabey the starleague would interveen and banish suny to butts hole or something.

clan invasion
when the truce of tukayid is up(what year would that be? 3072) i think wolf and jade falcon would resume there invasion along with some other clans im sure

these are just my opinions of two(more or less) logical events ...

Sounds like a good idea, although really, the Cappellan March is the strongest of the Marches in the Suns right now. 'Course, I have trouble trusting Duke Hasek. He seems motivated more for himself and his March and than for the Suns as a whole. That doesn't make him a traitor, but I could use ideas for him.

And the Clan Invasion is another good idea. It's one of the few areas the Neo-SLDF would probably involve themselves in. I don't imagine them as perfect peace-keepers, but they'd probably step in whenever things got really of of hand.

Interesting about what my group had in mind...for the most part...(no need for logger mechs fighting real mechs)...

First does the role of mercs change in anyway? You may want to have more of showing of the lesser know units to keep a balance between them and big names ones and vise versa.

As for the Wolverines...hints about them still being around or some thing like would be best I think...having them as a mystery and something to goad the Cursader clans along with at some point is always a good thing...

For the Clan end of things...how bloody of a war is it the results when the Grand Council finialy unites the Clans as one? Which clans are wiped out or absorbed? Does this effect the ones already in the Inner Sphere?

How do the minor powers fit in? Like the FRR and the Periphery nations?

I haven't decided on the FRR. St. Ives isn't coming back, it really wouldn't make sense in my mind. The Clans aren't "one" they just have a loose alliance and occasionally do joint exercises like the SLDF.

The role of Mercs wasn't going to change much. Although really, I don't know what to do with Wolf's Dragoons. Are they really mercenaries anymore? They're almost like their own House. I won't destroy them but I think removing their Clan-Tech factories is good. If they want Clan-Tech, let'em get it the hard way.

Frankly, what did you have in mind for Mercs?

for mercs i say "business as usaul" the number of small merc units would increase exponentialy after the civil because of all the shattered, dishonored, traitorus, ect units and also planetary militias.this war has produced many a hardened vetaran soldier though equipment would be lacking
in these time but not experianced personel to use it. As far as existing units like i said "business as usual"

I think Karagin is sugesting that I give the smaller mercenary units more time in the limelight as it were. Right? Or have I completely misunderstood?

One last thing, to keep our efforts organized, I'm going to post a web page where I will try my best to keep our ideas up-to-date.

One thing that would definatly be helpful would be to have the SL organize some sort of survey of the planets, I mean who knows how many hplanets are out there that their atmospheres or climates have changed to the point of habitation, but are listed as inhabitable b/c no one has bothered to check.

Nope you are track...make the smaller units more important but at the same have the bigger more well known ones be the shinning becon that all of the smaller ones want to reach...or something like that...

As for the Dragoons, I would treat them like a vassal of the Fed-Suns or as an indepentant company...one that takes no heed of borders or political boundries as long as the money is there and the payments are made on time the rest is only details.

Same could be done for the Highlanders if you don't have them allying themselves with the SLDF.

Actually, I'm going to reduce the size of the Dragoons and get rid of most of their navy. They can be powerful, but not obscenely so. As for the Highlanders joining the SLDF, I think I'll just let them continue as normal. Both the Dragoons and Highlanders are like "reserve" troops for the SLDF, they are hired when they need a large unit fast.

a question

why would you reduce the size of the dragoons? they are the single most important merc unit in the sphere they control the mrbc and outreach they run training for other mirc units if anything (now this is just my opinion so dont take it wrong)they would realisticly become more powerful or atleast stay almost as big as they are now.

Well, maybe I'll be diluting their strength more than reducing their numbers. The Clan-Tech Factories have to go. And the Warships are going to go boom, except maybe for one or two.

In the end, I'll just bow to everyone's opinion, I'm not hardcore anti-Dragoons or anything, I just think that right now they could proly take any capital in the Inner Sphere with little effort. That's kinda scary.

When I read Wolfpack, I formed the idea that the Dragoons have become a lot smaller after their civil war, so why need to invent something to cut them down in size when canon fluff says they already are?

If I remeber right, about a regiment or so of warriors were lost to the fighting and was it Parella and most of his regiment that left rather than take orders from Jamie and Maeve Wolf? From what I remeber without reading the book again I would say they went down to a couple of regiments plus zeta battalion from civil war losses and people leaving because they didn't like the changes afterward.

Just saying that would cut back the Dragoons without contriving a Wayne Waco terror strike. After all, with the fedcom civil war and all they would always keep a couple of regiments of troops on Outreach anyway. And why would their warships be a concern? Most of them would be permanently stationed to defend the Outreach system and the Dragoons military industry anyway and would bear no mention unless Outreach gets attacked.

And I never thought they had real mass production factories. Just enough to meet their own needs and turn out maybe 20 assorted mechs a year. Most of their Clan mechs were taken from storage, not built, and that supply will certainly have its limits.
