								| This was a wonder in Civilization: Call to Power, it built a space colony above the city it was built at.

								| Actually, after some comparison, I find that the designs don't cross over well. Good game though, filled wtih quick action.

								| VERY good game, I've been thinking about making a Hex based game that crosses BT, AC, Gundam, and Robotech, each mecha style having it's own advantages.

								| I've read about space elevators before. But the one thing its advocates never seem to comment on is what happens when one eventually falls out of orbit. Everything breaks sooner or later, would building such a thing be worth losing whatever it falls on to? _________________

								| If the break is low, then it doesn't fall, it is flung off into space. It the break is high, then the city is still shot off into space, but the beanstalk falls to earth. Relatively low mass, and things composed of mostly air collapse into a relatively tidy pile. Coriolis effect could cause it to topple however, but only due to its extreme height.

								| Fountains Of Paradise, By Arthur C. Clarke. It is science fiction, but it does cover a lot of the issues involved. They are also mentioned in the Warstrider Series, W.H. Keith. One of the Sky-Els is severed, and ends up in a slowly decaying orbit. It would depend on where and how it was severed as to weather it behaves like a building or an orbiting mass. heck the fall might be so slow motion that some orbital tugs could get it back into place for repairs! I would prohibit building anything in the atmosphere tho' then all you would have to worry about would be "cables". stuff falling from orbit would burn up before impact, probably.
