								| I just had this idea-
Trade out the SRM-6 rack for an LRM 5. Use the extra tonnage for CASE for the ammo.

This gives (albeit token) ranged punch, and keeps the mech from dying in an ammo hit. However, this does come at the cost of roughly half of the short-range punch.

								| Why would anyone trade anything for a LRM 5 pack? It has got to be one of the most useless weapons in the game.

								| Like I said- it's a trade-off of damage for range and protection.

								| "Protection"?
I must say that of all the weapons that I might be worried about a LRM5 isn't high (or even on) the list.

								| I would be predictable instead
Add more lasers instead of the LRM5 rack.
The CASE is useless with that XL engine, just go for firepower instead.

								| ah the ever previlent xl/case syndrom....... sigh.
your in error when saying that CASE is useless in xl engined mechs, why you ask. simple...... salvagability.

when a mech suffers an ammo explosion that destroys its CT that unit is 100 percent unsalvagable. but if the most you suffer is the loss of 1 location, we'll say left torso..... you can salvage damn near the whole mech. thats hd, ct, rt, ra, ll, rl, and maybe the la. that actuators, gyro's, and expensive componets that wear saved by adding CASE. even thou its still a feild kill, because its got no engine... it can be resurrected and refeilded.

that concludes this financial impact analysis.

								| If you play a campaign game, sure. In the straightforward slugfests it`s useless, since the machine is out of the fight anyway.

								| A single LRM 5 alone is pretty useless, get enough of them and people tend to start running the other way.

								| I prefer to use 2 of them with 2 tons of ammo. 1 Ton standard munitions, 1 ton Mag-Pulse Warheads. Then the Lrm 5 is VERY effective. +1 to heat,+3 to hit rolls Are very nice, especially when your facing a Pulse/Targeting comp combo, Or a mech heavier then you.
