What are your favorite albums? Pu as many as you like, and maybe a few words of why you like the music. Um, no collection albums, please. Live is okay.

I'll do my top 5...

5) "Saving Private Ryan" by John Williams. When listening to it I feel the emotion the movie put foward. Really powerful music.

4) "Metallica S&M" Metallica. One of the most ass-kicking bands of all time playing some of their mosy popular songs (and a few new ones) with the SF Symphony Orchestra. Some songs are decent...most of it kicks ass.

3) "La-ter-a-lus" Tool. There are few CDs that are just perfect from start to end. All 74 minutes of this album are powerful and awesome.

2) "Beethoven's Last Night" Trans-siberian Orchestra. Hard to really explain this CD. its a story, more than anything, with music to carry you on. Its a tale about Beethoven's last night on Earth, and his struggle with the devil about having his sole sparred in return for the unfinished manuscript of Beethoven's 10th sympony. Awesome story, great music.

1) "Dark Side of the Moon" Pink Floyd. Other albums have better music, or more songs. But I cant think of any that really have the mood, emotion, feel and overall power that "Dark Side of the Moon" does. And in almost no other case does an album feel so together. Each song seems to blend into eachother. The album feels complete...adding or taking away would ruin it completely.

Well, those are mine!

Favorite albums… that’s gonna be tough. I like songs, not albums. They could have an awesome song on a piss poor album….
Let’s try…

Mine are:

5) Tragic Kingdom – No Doubt. They did a great job getting the emotions across on this one….I’m also a fan of minor scales….

4) West Side Story, the Soundtrack – Leonard Bernstein. A soundtrack should make you feel the music and the story and this one does…

3) Dark Side of the Moon – Pink Floyd. Need I say more…..

2) Test for Echo/Grace under Pressure – Rush. Songs that I never get tired of hearing. I’ve listened to them on a 17 hr road trip, just those two.

1) Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Heart’s Club Band – Beatles. The quintessential Album of all time….

5)Bat Out of Hell- Meatloaf. It only contains 7 songs, but many say its the album that brought rock 'n roll back to the people.

4)Throwing Copper- Live. The most underated album of the 90s. Never mind the radio "hits", its the songs that aren't played on the radio that make this CD.

3)Texas Flood- Stevie Ray Vaughn. The beginning of the legend that is the greatest blues guitarist ever. And today happens to be the 12 anniversary of his tragic death in a helecopter crash.

2)Songs In The Key Of Life- Stevie Wonder. The quintessential R&B album.

1)Rubber Soul- The Beatles. Everyone says Sgt. Pepper's is the most influential album of all time, and this is the album that influenced that one.

Throwing Copper and Stevie Ray Vaughn are among my most listened to. But I think my 1st favorite is from Seven Nations, the Old Ground CD. Celtic rock done really right.

And then there's Fleetwood Mac, Rumors, and the GoGo's greatest hits CD, lots of good songs on that one. And definetely DEVO, their sound is strange but unmatched by anybody else.

And lately Linkun Park. I play that one at work almost every day. It just clicks, exp. that last song on the CD.

In no particular order:

ELO: Out of the Blue, this album was one of the first I ever owned (tape actually, later album and cd) Having grown up on AM radio this album rocked my world!

Star Wars (a new Hope): Original score, heck I can hum my way through every track on this one. Can anyone say that John Williams was not at his best here? This score impacted a whole generation and defined the most evil character in movie history.

Foreigner: 4, "Urgent, Juke Box Hero, Waiting for a girl like you", 80's rock at its best!

Phil Collins: Face Value, introspective tracks defining a solemn time in his life. Fantastic tracks "In the air tonight, This must be love"

Asia:self titled, this album rocks! "Heat of the moment, Only time will tell," and a slew of others constantly remind me of the summers of '83 and '84 the heyday of D&D roleplaying, very fond memories indeed.

So did I. I could have in '83, but a Teacher's Strike got in the way...
