How many here have ever made their own games? Did you ever get your friends to play them, or thought about trying to sell them?
I have been making board games and RPG's for a while. Unfortunately all except one were big flops. I once made an RPG set in the Aliens universe (in 8th grade, I think), and I managed to coerce my friends into playing it maybe twice. The story was always "you're stuck in a building with a mg and there are acid-bleeding bugs trying to get you." My friends humored me but somehow we always ended playing Mortal Kombat instead.

I don't have the creative or patience to create my own systems. Probably never will... _________________ Mordel Blacknight - Site Administrator

I've been working to develop a Super Hero BoardGame using Games Workshop's "Talisman 2nd edition" for the general rules. It's based on the Onslaught crossover in the Marvel Universe which happened a few years ago.
Three Character Types: Heroes, Villains, Mutants travel through and around a Manhatten Board to gain Power, PowerStunts and Artifacts to eventually gain enough strength to enter Onlsaught's lair in Central Park.
Also want to do a DC crossover kind of mimicing "Talisman Timescape"
I'ts about 1/2 done, but my free time keeps getting shorter and shorter......

Wizkids beat you to it.
The clicky super hero game (using both Marvel and DC characters) will reportably be out by the summer.

Actually that sounds pretty cool, not quite the same game I'm shooting for but it gives me a great Idea. I already have dozens of Metal Super Hero figs painted, I'll by the ClickyHero and stick my figs on em! Kewl.

I once made a roleplaying game about pirates, I went so far as to copy drawings of ships to use as hit charts for naval battles.
I don't feel a need to create a new system when somebody else has done the work for me. I'm good at adapting the best of the systems available and discarding others.
Two projects I have are rules for air combat in WWI and rules for miniature wargamming in the Renaissance. This last one is an exception, all the existing rules set suck for some reason or another. _________________ Memento audare semper

A really good system for comming up with your game ideas.
But I know what you mean, I at one time owned 23 GURPS books. Now I am down to 3.
If I did not have to eat. I would have plently of money

I think I have GURPS Supers around as I love the super hero genre...plus I know GURPS Space is on my shelf--the planet creation rules work great for a lot of games.
I don't think I still have any others...

Long time ago, Casey and I set up a company size battle system based on AD&D second edition. We needed it because we had some decently advanced characters that we wondered how they would fare against large goblin/orc/troll invasions.
We even fought a bunch of battles with the system and it worked very well.. It was based on the old Squad leader hex maps, and we converted ranges etc..
Then AD&D came out with their own system which sucked.
