								| Rewind to September 8th: During lunch, a person in my grade of Arabic decent begins calling me "gay", "faggot",and "bullshitter" for no reason. I'm already having a really bad day, so I respond with "shut up you Goddamn Arab." I immediately apologize for snapping out, and he doesn’t say anything else during lunch.
When final bell hits and I'm at my locker getting stuff, he blindsides me and pushes me into the locker saying, "got a problem man?" I turn around to see him and he immediately runs away, giving me no chance to respond. I grab the strap on his backpack and the pack rips in half, since I have a death grip on the thing and he's still hauling away.

Later that evening, he calls me, saying he got my number from a friend and that his parents want a meeting with mine. The meeting never happens, though him, my counselor, and me have one. We discuss it, it's settled, and I'm given 2 days of detention, nothing is mentioned about the backpack. I leave, and report for the detentions on Sep. 10 and the morning of Sep. 11.

His parents never call back, and he tries being my friend for the rest of the year. The last week of school, he demands $25 for the backpack. I ask him "I thought this was settled, why bring it up now?" and he says "well...with the September 11th thing, I didn't want to..". I just ignored him, thinking he just needs cash. It's sickening to me that he bases his whole racial argument thing off that, he just hides behind the whole disaster. I'm moving, and I thought I was going to a different school, away from him, next year. Turns out I'm going to the same school, and all summer he pesters my friends every chance he gets to tell me that he wants to talk to me online (I had blocked him long before that). I doubt he's going to drop it when I get back to school, since he's never let it go yet.

So, I need some advice, I'm not really sure what to do. Telling him my money is in New York sounds pretty good right about now, however...

								| And just why are you responsible to pay for the backpack? Last I heard it was the one responsible for the hit and run that got in trouble.

								| Ignore him...that is best thing to do. If he keeps bugging you go back to conuselor and let them deal with it...

								| ok, i can see this being a time bomb.... so keep it in line ppl.
that said, i'd say you were wrong for your actions, but paid thru appology and detention.

his little accident, shows how childish he is and that he can't simply let things drop.

so, over all...... the backpack in my opinion is his fault, and you have no responsability to pay for its damage.

								| Just act like you do not know about any damaged backpack. He can bring it up all he wants, but it makes no difference, unless he can prove it (I doubt he could). If that just makes him mad, then ignore him completely, which will probably drive him nuts.

								| We've gone through this basic topic several times before, but the short version goes something like this:
 Is it technically possible? yes

 Is it feasible? Not really

Will it be thrown out of court by the judge for being frivolous? depends on the judge

Do you have grounds to counter-sue? probably yup

 Is it feasible? not really

That about sums it up, really. Plus the standard disclaimers: laws vary with jurisdiction, I am not a lawyer, don't try to sneak a weapon past Lurch...

I wouldn't worry about this. It just isn't worth it.

								| Wait until you see him in a street or parking lot and then run him down with your car. Or did you want good advice?
I would just ignore him and adpot a "yeah, whatever" attitude. He started it, so he can live with a damaged back pack.
