Okay, with the prepping to go overseas again, I'm going to need some entertainment material to stay sane! So, that leads me to the question... Which is the best option?

I haven't really kept up on the technology, (instead, I've been trying to understand my computer, and failing miserably!)

I like the PS2 if for only 2 reasons...Final Fantasy games and the better selection of Gundam games...get to play both PS1 and PS2 games here...

Although I wish I had a Sega Dreamcast to play the Record of Lodoss War and the Gundam: Gihren's Greed games...

The XBox might be a future looksee, as the MechAssault BTech game will be on that platform...

Fortunately, Robotech: Battlecry is on all three major systems, so I could just get it for the PS2...

X-box has better graphics (not by much); PS2 has many, many more games (by a ton).

IMO you can't do really wrong by either of them, but I'd chose the PS2 because it has more games.

Get the X-Box. Why? one word... Halo. It is a great game. It might not be worth getting an X-Box for... but mechassault is. Last I heard in MA you could blast your way into a hanger and watch people catter or shoot little guns at you so you can let em run, shoot em, or my favorite. Squish em!

Halo is coming out for computer, and Turok for PS2 is supposed to be even better than Halo (According to Maxim among other souces). PS2 has much better sales, equaling better devolper support equaling better games and longevitity. The PS2 Network is already up, and it has a much better selection of games. You can play MechAssault, sure. I'll play Armored Core 2, AC2:AA, and AC3, which is almost the same but has a higher emphasis on anime (preferable, IMO). Must be good if they keep releasing sequals...

Hahaha! I can answer this as a PORFESSIONAL (it is my job to seel thse things ya know).

X-BOX:

Pros: It has the best graphics of the 3, hands down. It also has the best frame rates in games. Built in Hard Drive and ethernet card.

Cons: Not many games right now. Only about 80 titles. The DVD Player needs a $40 add-on to work. Normal controller is akward and huge.

Bottom Line: If you want the system that will be big in 2 years, X-Box is the way to go. It will be strong until 2005 when PS3 comes out.

Game to get: Morrowind. This game alone will suck up any free time you have...so much so that Halo is nothing in comparison. Halo is cool when you have some buds over...but Morrowind is the way to go if you aint gonna be playing with anyone.

PS2

Pros: HUGE number of games. At least 200 titles, 300 by Christmas. Graphics and frame are decent. Built in DVD player that works out of the box. Best overall compatabilty with DVDs. HUGE library of PSX games

Cons: Not as detailed or fast in terms of framerate as X-Box. Modem and Hardrive are coming out soon *modem at end of august*

Bottom Line: Right now it is the best buy on the market. In 2 years...hard to say. Sony doesnt plan for PS3 until 2005.

Game to get: Grand Theft Auto 3. Easily one of the best games ever made, and it will last you a while. Also, Final Fantasy X and Gran Turismo.

Gamecube: Can Suck It.

Go PS2, in my opinion. And BTW...NO games you buy over seas (unless its from the Base Exchange) will run in an American system. its like a DVD Region code...but worse. its almost evil in a way. So...make sure if you buy an American system that you buy american games.
