Ok, thinking about running a scenario later with some people. Any thoughts on it? This is what it entails. Pretty straight forward I figure.
Setup = A Mercenary unit of Veteran status, made up of mostly of regular mercenary designs, is hird to attack a Chaos March planet. It is defended by a Miltia unit made up of mostly common designed piloted by mostly Regular status mechwarriors.
During a rutine partol, one of the merc lances happens upon the Miltia's Command Lance. They radio back to base and are ordered to keep the Miltia lance busy while their Assault Lance makes their way to their position.
Meanwhile, the Miltia's Command Lance is out in preperations for an attack on the Mercenary unit when they are caught by surprise by a small merc lance out on patrol. The commander radios back to HQ for backup in case there are more merc units nearby. HQ responds that their support lance should be out there shortly.
** = Both units are roughly equal in weight. Miltia has slight advantage in units, where mercs are better in stats.
Units involved:
Mercs:
Patrol Lance - AF1 Arctic Fox-Primary, HOP-4B Hoplite, LNX-9R Lynx
Assault Lance - TDR-5SE Thunderbolt, WHM-7K Warhammer, BNDR-01A Bandersnatch, ANH-2A Annihilator
Miltia:
Command Lance - HBK-4P Hunchback, GHR-5N Grasshopper, CP-11-G Cyclops, AS7-D Atlas
Support Lance - CDA-3F Cicada, WTH-2A Whitworth, KW1-LH2 Lineholder

I'd really like to join you in this scenario. It's been a long time since I've actually played a game of BT though, so I'm pretty rusty. If you could help me through it, that'd be cool. It's up to you man, let me know.
Thanks

How many turns before each unit receives the reinforcements? That patrol lance is going to have a bit of a time keeping the Command busy and staying alive at the same time. Why would the command lance radio for help dealing with such a lighter and smaller lance?

If you read the setup, you'd know they were radioing for backup in case there were other merc lances nearby. Better safe than sorry ya know?
As for how long before reinforcements would show up for either side is determind by the roll of the dice at the start of the game. Adds some randomness to it rather than to simply say, oh they'll show up in like 5 turns or something.

I have recently had this scenario played out. Though I did not actually play, just gm'd it. For anyone interested in the outcome of it, the Mercs were slaughtered mostly due to bad tactics and crap luck.
On the 4th turn of play, the Merc's reinforcements showed up. Somewhat scaring the Miltia. But fortunately, theirs showed up 2 turns later on the 6th. Though they were somewhat disappointed in what they got. A Lineholder, Whitworth, and Cicada?! Especially after seeing what the Mercs had just gotten. The Miltia promptly cheered their backup afterwards and had their opinions decidedly changed for the better about their effectiveness when they helped to wipe out the bad guys.
And this is where it got ugly.
Bad tactic #1:
Entire Merc force rushes up ahead leaving the 2 gunner ANH to waddle it's way up slowly and get left behind.
Bad tactic #2:
The Hoplite and Arctic Fox charge the 3 gunner Atlas and the Lineholder. Atlas & KW1 tear them apart.
Bad tactic #3:
The Warhammer charges the Hunchback and Grasshopper at the edge of the forest. The HBK & GHR combine for a total of 13 Medium Lasers & 1 PPC of which they can fire at the WHM.
Bad Tactic #4:
The Thunderbolt sits away from battle firing it's LRM's while rest of the unit charges.
Bad Luck #1:
WHM survives the onslaught of the HBK & GHR by only taking 5 hits from all the ML's. Though 2 of them to the head. Next turn it sucks another ML shot to the head by the Whitworth thereby decapitating it.
Bad Luck #2 (Tactics #5?):
The Cicada somehow manages to zip behind the Bandersnatch while it is dumping it's AC Ammo and promptly hits it's Rear Torso with one of its ML's, blowing the ammo up and destroying the mech.
Bad Luck #3:
After finally getting within decent range for battle a turn ago and making it's presence felt, the ANH then sucks a dual Gryo hit threw Mint armor after being hit by the Atlas.
All in all though, it was an interesting battle. As well as had a few amusing moments. 1 of which being the 1/2 the mitlia unit having problems staying on it's feet for a couple turns. The Atlas itself fell over twice within 2 turns when having barely recieved enough damage to knock it over.
I believe that if I run this scenario again I'll have to modify a few of the pilot stats as well as maybe switch the ANH-2A over to a MAD-5B. Less firepower, but more armor & speed. Give it a chance to keep up with the rest of the unit unlike what happened with the ANH getting left behind

Good idea on the switch of machines.
