Overview:
In May 3067 the graduating classes of the Luthien Academy Of Military Design got a
challenging task to accomplish.
They had to design a BattleMech with the latest CAD-technology and under following terms:
1. Take a classic BattleMech design used in the 3rd Succession War.
2. Construct an OmniMech chassis upon this basis.
3. Suggest weapon configurations for that chassis; at least four but not more than seven.
3. a) The primary configuration has to be based upon the original weapon layout of the
classic design.
3. b) If possible include following configuration types: city-fighter, LRM-support,
fire-support/sniper.
All OmniMechs were graded by a committee and loaded into a battlefield simulation program.
The WSP-O was presented by Student Yuna Kakeuchi.
Capabilities:
Student Takeuchi saw the Wasp as a dedicated scout and made the questionable decision to
mount a fixed Beagle active probe. A light fusion engine and an EndoSteel-frame enabled her
to make it faster while still featuring respectable 5 tons of pod-space.
The primary configuration carries a single ER medium laser and six jump jets. Instead of a
light missile rack it mounts a TAG to act as a forward observer for artillery strikes and
the like.
The A supports its lance mates with a small LRM rack while carrying a medium and a small
laser for closer ranges.
The B is a dedicated sniper with a single ER large laser.
Carrying a plethora of light lasers the C-configuration can also be propelled to 130 kph by
engaging its super charger making it ideal for back biting.
The D uses only limited firepower for a full complenent of jump jets.
The trials the academys battlefield simulation program revealed a similar problem like the
LCT-O: all configurations without jump jets showed increased loss rates because of limited
maneuverability. Most units of 20 tons or less on an 3067 battlefield often outperformed it.
So the protection through speed wasn't as high as expected.
The fixed active probe was criticized because it lowered the versatility on a design, that
already has limited pod space.
The primary, C and D-configuration fared quite well, the B got some merits but the A was
deemed utterly useless.

classic design.
3. b) If possible include following configuration types: city-fighter, LRM-support,
fire-support/sniper.
All OmniMechs were graded by a committee and loaded into a battlefield simulation program.
The WSP-O was presented by Student Yuna Kakeuchi.
Capabilities:
Student Takeuchi saw the Wasp as a dedicated scout and made the questionable decision to
mount a fixed Beagle active probe. A light fusion engine and an EndoSteel-frame enabled her
to make it faster while still featuring respectable 5 tons of pod-space.
The primary configuration carries a single ER medium laser and six jump jets. Instead of a
light missile rack it mounts a TAG to act as a forward observer for artillery strikes and
the like.
The A supports its lance mates with a small LRM rack while carrying a medium and a small
laser for closer ranges.
The B is a dedicated sniper with a single ER large laser.
Carrying a plethora of light lasers the C-configuration can also be propelled to 130 kph by
engaging its super charger making it ideal for back biting.
The D uses only limited firepower for a full complenent of jump jets.
The trials the academys battlefield simulation program revealed a similar problem like the
LCT-O: all configurations without jump jets showed increased loss rates because of limited
maneuverability. Most units of 20 tons or less on an 3067 battlefield often outperformed it.
So the protection through speed wasn't as high as expected.
The fixed active probe was criticized because it lowered the versatility on a design, that
already has limited pod space.
The primary, C and D-configuration fared quite well, the B got some merits but the A was
deemed utterly useless.
