I hope everyone making copies of HeavyMetal"anything" has permission from Rick Raisley to do so.
I'm betting he hasn't given anyone permission to do so, and I can't believe I just saw a representative of FanPro suggest that he would violate Rick's copyright if the person didn't own the program.
Now if you have permission then please forgive me. But also be certain that I will be checking with him on this issue.

Listen, the program is either for you or it is not. |

Some easy fix. Copyright infringement. Whether the program is for you/them or not, it is not legal to make and distribute/sell/give copies to anyone. I'm rather shocked that a member of my own forums would suggest this.
I may be wrong, but I doubt very much that the only way you can paricipate in these events is to own, or use, HeavyMetal Pro. Copies from FASA record sheet books have always been legal, and I'm sure this one is no different. Sure, using HMPro may provide a way to use custom, but legal, designs, but if you don't have a program that is required to design them, then just do what you would have at every previous FASA-sponsored competition: make a copy of the record sheet. It is /legal/ to make copies of the record sheets; it says so at the bottom of the sheet.
Very disturbing, this is... (in my best Yoda voice)

About what are you complaining ?
I live in Vienna, Austria, EU and i am registered as #1030(BloodSpirit with a lot of ProtoMechs as they didn't have the Brotherhood of Randis)
Just look which location is the nearest for me !
|
|
I wasn't complaining about anything. Simply responding to the original post which stated only 1 person from MA was signed up. And that there was nowhere to really play around there

I don't mean a copy as in I burn a copy and send it, FanPro would make the order and then I'd ship it out. I don't even have HM+ myself.
There have been no copyrights harmed in the production of the Commando Program.

So to clarify...
That means that any Commando that doesn't have Heavy Metal Plus can get one for free by simply asking you for one and FanPro will pay for it, correct?

Actually the matter is a bit more complicated.
According to the record sheets in my BT RS 3055&3058, you are only granted to PHOTOCOPY THEM FOR PERSONAL USE !
This doesnt include using them in a program like HM+ ! Unless the creator of this progam is paying royalities to FanPro ( which are continuing FASA's CBT ), this is infringement of their copyright in the first place.
Just ask Mordel what problem he could become with WotC because of his Deckbuilder, especilly as he uses the original artwork from the cards in his program.
