AAAAAAARRRRRRRGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!
My eyes! My eyes! I cannot see!
I just read a bit more about the MWDA to get an informed opinion and I wish I didn't, it's even worse I thought!!
WTF!! This has not anything to do with Battletech at all, hell, it has not anything to do with reality at all. Jordan Weissnman has lost it. Though we all know Stackpoole is behind all this.
So in essence, the World of Blake takes all over the known universe, but the good guys manage to beat them and some god like hero founds the Terran Hegemony again, imposes by decree that happiness is mandatory and you have to love thy neighbors, and confiscates everybody 'Mechs and ushers in a new golden age of peace and prosperity.
WTFK are this people smoking???
Battletech is, briefly, all about feudalism, Battlemechs and endless warfare, not f***ing democracy, PCness and peace.
People, don't bother commenting on this stuff, Dark Ages hasn't anything to do with Battletech, save you a lot of time and heartburn ignoring this pile of smelly organic fertilizer. Nobody is going to buy this, much less with Clickytech attached.
FASA put a wonderful universe in my hands, they are not going to take it away from me. It's mine, mine, and mine and I can do anything I please with it, damn!

Vampire... I hate to lay this on you, but the Darkage time line IS the future of Classic BattleTech. And you are wrong about "Nobody is going to buy this, much less with Clickytech attached.", because its happening now and the community for the new game is growing and many of the Mage Knight players as I have heard are chomping at the bit for this one too.
But I will inform you that we have 65 years of game time to do something. And that doesn't enclude looking at other things either. I cannot say what, but even you will be happy to see that. But then again...
Again, MechWarrior Darkages is the future of the game. And its going to proceed with or without you and I. Nothing is going to change that.

Don't you lie, evil man, you are enjoying this
Dark Ages the future of Battletech? Hardly!
It has nothing to do with it, I see it as nothing more than a rip off, an alternate universe at best.
It's not my fault that FASA couldn't make their way out of the fine mess they had regarding the storyline, if you want to go that way, fine, I still have my books, the game police is not going to storm my house to ensure my game is being played follwoing to the letter the novels.

Nice sales pitching, but I'm not buying it, I know that you have a vested interested in MWDA selling.
I have seen MageKnight,if those people buy *that*, then they will buy *anything*. A fool and his money are soon parted, so they say.
All I have to said is, that if the perpetrators of MWDA think they can sucker in Battletech diehard fans, they are very mistaken.
By the way, I quitted from Battletech more or less after Shattered Sphere. I'm not buying any Civil War novels nor the latest fiedl manuals and readouts. Hell, I never bought any Battlemech mini or readout post 3050, they sucekd so badly.
Ad even if I were new to the game, I'd never play MageKnight or "Clickytech" i's crap for children that have nothing better to waste their money on.
Of course, Whizkids may make money out of this, wich proves the newer generations have rotten brains from growing up with TV and computer games and the declining education level. I feel a lot better now, I'll not feel remorse anymore about polluting the planet or exhausting the natural resources, screw the mean little bastards before they grow up to screw you! _________________ Memento audare semper

Truthfully? No I'm not.
I am not happy to see those who rant and rave about preceptions real or not that aren't happy with what has happened.
I am not happy to see people who are up in arms about something that has had to come to pass because of things that happened in the past. And feel left out in the cold and helpless about it too.
I am not happy to see friends go at each other because their views are contrary to each other.
I am not happy to see people swear blood oaths, send threatening emails and act like idiots whose rectal retention is worthless and can't act human all because this game is going through another change.
I am not happy to see gamers get bent out of shape because of a game.
I am not happy with seeing people full of raging hate over this.
I am saddened by all of this actually.
And when I was given the opportunity to be part of the development team for Classic BattleTech to write and help shape the game I was never more happy. And now I see all of this Dario it gives me more fire to do what I can do to make what product we do produce is the best.
I'm from the old school and I am an old RPGer gamer. And we always put forth that effort to make sure our universes were well thought out and made sense.
And what I see now really stokes my fire to do it right. Randall knows my feelings on this and how I believe it should be done right. And I can assure you Dario that product we put out will hopefully make you happy and bring you back active to the whole of the game.
It saddens me to see you or anyone else to make the same mistakes I did. Case in point, I threw away all my AD&D/D&D books when they came out with 2nd Edition I was so blind with hatred for the game. So I fully understand your feelings and emotions on it.
So you see.. I don't enjoy this. And that my friend is the truth of the matter.

Well as much as I would like to agree with you I cannot. It is the future of Classic BattleTech. Denying it won't stop it.
But as you said, you can play in your own version of the universe. The BattleTech Universe is the most Dynamic gaming universe that I've ever had the pleasure to be part of. And there is so much you can do with it. Like starting from the very beginning and working your way from that through all the Succession wars! Heck you could even go and misjump and kill all the walking birds!
So I don't fault you one bit there bud. This is what makes this universe so special. I appauled your effort and your ablity to do just what you are doing. And I'll support your right to do so regardless of what people would think or say. I'm impressed with your hard headness on this too!
Anyway I thought I'd give you my real point of view on this.

Thank you for the kind words, Warner. As ever, you're the class act.
No harm to you, however, but I'm afraid I still won't be getting Dark Ages.
But I still support Classic!

I agree. I am not fond of the DA timeline, but at the same time I have realized that I cannot change it. At first I was with those who ranted about the "revalations" from the DA Comstar page. But after a weekend away from the madness I realized that all my screaming and ranting and raving would do ZIP. NADA. I would not be able to make you change your mind. Even if this was a decision I could work, WizKids already has buku bucks dropped into DA, and if it goes belly up than it'll hurt WizKids. It won't kill them, but it'll hurt 'em. So I slowwed with the ranting and stopped. Then Old Dog beat me to the punch. He started an alternate future for the IS... Probably much better than one I could have made, and it would also appease all those who hate the Clans (and most specifically ClanTech). I'm helping on this project and hope to become a major contributor on this project. In the end, MW:DA is the Official timeline. Complaining won't change that. Flame-mail won't change that. Nothing save buying WizKids out will change that (and I seriously doubt that will happen...). So I'm doing that I think is best.
In the end I will TRY MW:DA. Not for the story, but for the game. If I like it, cool, something to do in my off time between CBT games and V:tM games, but I'll play it for the game, not the story. In the end it's a just game, for good or for bad. *shrugs*

We don't have a lot of these silly things going on here because for the most part we're all mature people.
As for "hating" the whole MW:DA game/timeline, I figure if people keep their rants about the game and not the people involved it's all good. "Anger" is good sometimes, it's the whole "kill the SOBs that are ruining this game" mentality that's bad...

I made the mistake of checking a second time, and the only positive thing I can say is that the website design is good.
*Sounds of Vampire throwing up the two units of AB+ he had for lunch*
*more puking and barfing sounds*
Sheesh, this is *SO* awful... not content with making a grotesque mockery of Battletech, they are aping Star Wars, the Republic, the Senate, the Jedi Knights..errr, I mean the Knights of the Sphere... this is stuff for retarded morons and kids.
I've seen enough, I'm not going to check their website a third time, they make Warhammer 40K look good in comparison.

Warner, I think you're missing a point here:
It isn't that we don't realize that MWDA and CBT are here to stay, and are the way it is. It's that we are so sickened by the direction it is heading that we are leaving the game rather than support it. And it isn't like this is a game I just picked up last week. I've been playing for 14 years and have sunk how many hundreds of dollars into it...
...and yet...
...I am so sickened by the direction it is going that I cannot bring myself to give either company another dime of my money.
Honestly, step away from the employee mode for a minute. Do you honestly like the direction BattleTech is going to take storywise? Because if you don't, why are you supporting them through money or time or effort? And that is exactly why CBT is dead now for me. The direction it is going in is so pitiful and bad, that I just won't help it in anyway at all.

Shadowking,
Because the game that I went to died on the vine.
I really don't like the new timeline. It doesn't make any sense, and I'm surprised that the folks developing it don't see that, but it is their game.
I guess I'll go back to playing RPG games at Total Con..

No Pin, you'll be playing Battletech
Since when do we pay much attention to the timeline when creating scenarios for Total?
We pay much more attention to having a good scenario over anything else...
