It is because of players like HIM that i hate FASA for introducing the clans into the BattleTech universe !

Are you sure that it is allowed to remove & add arm&hand actuators in the different configurations of a Omnimech ?

Hand and Lower arm actuators are pods. Read the rules on construction of omnis.

Bad design, coupled with munchy weapons makes this thing worthless to any true clan warrior.
All three of your configs at at least two heat sinks but yet you did not fill up your engine sinks. You could have saved yourself 4 criticals. This should have given you enoguh room to add Ferro armor.
No true clan warrior even a second liner is going to use a hatchet. Also what is an ER Large doing facing backwards? Are you planning on running from your foes as well?

Nice catch!
Anyway, IIRC, rear-firing weapons among the Clans are also not a really big way to score honor points. The only Clan units that I have seen with rear-firing weapons that I can remember are their aerospace assets- and that's only from necessity.

*Bangs head on computer screen.*
I give up. Why does no one listen? It is an Omni-mech. It is meant to have different configs, just in case someone hates one. If the laser facing the back seems wrong, change it. If you do not like the hatchet, change it. If you do not like the way the heat sinks are, change it. The number of heat sinks in each config does not matter. I kept them out of the engine so that I would have more weight for weapons if I so wished. This mech was one of the first omnis I created in TDB. It looks bad because I was just testing things out.

I have given up long ago too, to change the designers of such scrap
As soon as i saw the new clantech, i knew that there would be a lot of honorless cauldronborns which would abuse the rules
MfG, MEX
P.S.: I have no problems with the design, only with the designer

[sarcasm] Thanks, Mex. You sure are good at encouraging people to try harder. I think I will toil endlessly to meet your approval.[/sarcasm]
P.S. I have no problems with the post. Just the writer.

With your theory in mind you should not even be designing new omnis in the first place, just new configurations for the original 14 in TRO 3050.

Not really. The purpose of the design here was to give people a new base to work with for omnis. The configs are only optional, that is why I say that people should change what they dislike.

That would be a good idea to prevent the flood of similar Omni-Mechs.

P.S.: Actually i am more radical than you think. How about using pre-3050 stuff only ?

Actually I have considered on several occassians to play a "Birth of the Clans" type scenario in which they have only level 1 and Star League era tech.

It's not you that we're tearing into- it's a flawed machine. It is common for people to get torn into and nit-picked on design posts. For my first few posted designs, I got my butt handed to me until I figured out where I kept fouling up and what to avoid. In addition, instead of multiple designs, I spaced out the design posts so that I could verify that what I was doing was OK.
What they are suggesting with the original 14 is a way for you to practice with your designing before you attempt something like a new machine. Working with varients of existing units is probably the best way to get you trained for creating new machines- you may even surprise yourself with what varients you come up with! (This coming from the same guy who figured out how to slap an Arrow IV on a Griffin a few years back.) This goes especially for omnis, since their entire design is that they can take any number of modifications.
We're not trying to make you mad or anything- it's part of growing on a message board to learn to roll with the punches.
Now, let's break it down:
1. That hatchet. Physical attacks are forbidden to Clans unless the rules of honor are already broken- even then, many warriors still disdain such a concept. If you will notice, most omnis do not mount hands even if it is a possibility. Hands are almost exclusively the province of the Second-Line units. This is common knowledge.
2. Rear-firing weapons: the reason that rear-firing weapons even exist is that opponents attempt to take advantage of a unit's weaker rear armor. This is also a major no-no among the Clans. Go back and read the novel 'Star Lord.' There is a passage in which a Steel Viper warrior smashes the cockpit of her opponent becase she thought that he was trying to jump behind her to shoot out her rear armor (in reality, he was attempting a death-from-above and missed.) Go back through the Clan designs. Only aerospace units carry rear-firing weapons, and that is from necessity. Otherwise, it is left to arms capable of rotating to the rear to handle such situations.
3. Know your stuff. The impression, right or wrong, that you are giving off is that you may not know what you are talking about. Hence, you risk getting eaten alive. This happens all over. It may not be fair, but it is a fact of life. If nothing else, learn how to be able to apologize if you do mess up. Learning that the hard was is not fun.
I will give you another chance- you deserve it. The core design itself is fairly sound; it is the configurations that are killing you. Redo them. I will critique you then.

Good post Kraken, but a question about point #2...
Is it really against Clan Honor to shoot at your opponent's back?
I am under the impression that it is not--that if your opponent shows his back (or makes it easily reachable) that it's acceptable to do so.

I'm not 100% sure, but that passage in Star Lord gives that as a very strong impression.
