Overview:
In the late 3140’s, in an attempt to make the most of their industrial output, Clan
Hell’s Horses’ leadership directed their scientists and technicians to revisit the many
older OmniMech designs they were still constructing, and determine what measures could be
implemented to make them more effective. When examining the vintage Gargoyle 80 ton
OmniMech, it was determined that most configurations did not utilize the vast amount of heat
dissipation afforded by the built-in heat sink system of that design, and the lack of
endo-steel internals also limited its payload. Alleviating these two constraints nearly
doubled the payload of the machine, making the resulting machine truly deadly on the
battlefield.
Variants:
Alternate Configuration N was created as a medium-range skirmisher; with limited but
powerful and versatile weapons, good mobility and virtually no heat issues. Starting off,
five jump jets provide the ability to make leaps up to 150 meters, and two extra heat sinks
ensures the OmniMech remains relatively cool even when the jets are extensively used. The
right arm has a lower arm and hand actuators, and mounts a pair of large pulse lasers
underslung beneath the forearm. In its left arm, the lower arm and hand actuators are
replaced with a dual-purpose Type 10 autocannon, fed from a two ton munitions bay protected
by advanced CASE systems in its left torso. This allows it to carry both standard shells and
cluster rounds for the autocannon, able to exploit breaches in an opponent’s armor or the
many weaknesses of traditional armored vehicles.
