Overview:
Several decades after the end of the Jihad, the Draconis Combine had restored its military
and industrial strength. The production lines of the "Luthien Armor Works" were also
available again. Current models, such as the Avalanche, could be supplemented by the
production of older models. The first generation of Omnis (Raptor, Owens, Strider,
Firestarter, Blackjack, Black Hawk-KU, Avatar, and Sunder) had proven themselves in the
past, but also had minor flaws. The ramp-up of production should now eliminate or improve
these minor issues. First: a complete conversion to dual heat sinks on all 'Mechs. Second: a
complete removal of fixed equipment (including jump jets and external heat sinks). The
second point demonstrates the increased flexibility. Some equipment is no longer compatible
with some Omnis (e.g., the use of improved jump jets). This also significantly increases the
carrying capacity in some cases. The entire project was dubbed "Project Refit." The
designation of the revised base models is -RF.
Capabilities:
The Firestarter-RF loses two of its heatsinks - just the heatsinks inside its engines will
remain. Together with the removal of the other fixed equipment (jumpjets and flamer) this
will encrease the podspace. Every part can be mounted when necessary. There is also a little
change concerning the distribution of endosteel. Now the Firestarter-RF is able to get some
actuators, if necessary.
