I *almost* get it, there's a lot of 40k refugees looking for other game systems, so making a one-off alternate universe box where the mechs are more 40k flavoured could encourage more new players.
That being said, I don't think Catalyst has enough resources available to be spending time and money on one-off sets that don't add anything to the main game. A number of people have said they want the new models to use as pirate mechs (I personally think they're pretty ugly).
Though, every time I see BattleTech Gothic, my brain automatically assumes its Battlefleet Gothic and I get excited that there might be a new BFG game coming out.

It look bad to me, they could have a level II comstar fire support box with
A: Excalibur A: Bombardier A: Grim Reaper
A: Kintaro A: Thorn A: Viking
or so many other choices if the sculpts are there? but a one off after the kick starter mess, makes them look really bad.

Finally scanned through the primer. Looks like an AU. Points of change are the introduction of better genetic engineering leading to more bio weapons, including large organic combat creatures, and the SLDF mostly stuck around after the Amaris coup. Which kept the hegemony as a functional state. But the wars got worse leading to loss of entire swaths of planets.
Mostly im interested in the potential for new construction rules for those bio construct creatures.
