Overview:
In an effort to build back up the morale of the Lyran Commonwealth and the LCAF after
decades of loss, Archon Trillian Steiner decided to resurrect the Hauptmann OmniMech, but
instructed the engineers at Defiance Industries, TharHes Industries and Coventry Metal
Works, who would all share the design, to improve upon the previous OmniMech. The result was
the Hauptmann II, a true descendant of the original and worthy of its legacy.
Capabilities:
Upping the mass to 100 tons, it was decided to give the design a clan-grade extralight type
300 fusion core. Although this decision does make the design more vulnerable than the
original, it also freed up enough mass to switch out the internal structure for a heavily
reinforced armored skeleton. This change allows the design to absorb massive punishment
before failure. It also leaves massive amounts of internal volume free to be fitted with
whatever weapons and equipment are needed to be fitted; which is useful considering the fact
that the design still has 45.5 tons of pod space available despite its heavy structure.
Deployment:
Much as the original, the first Hauptmann II’s produced have been distributed to those of
that rank throughout the LCAF.
Variants:
Designed for combat in built-up terrain and against multiple types of opponents, alternate
Configuration F combines the firepower of three plasma rifles with a large rack of
short-range missiles fitted with an Artemis IV fire control system and two tons of reloads,
and a pair of anti-personnel Gauss rifles fed from a single ton of ammunition. A
head-mounted anti-missile system protects the machine from incoming missile fire, and a
series of jump jets allow it to traverse up to 90 meters of hazardous terrain at a time. A
light active probe procured from Clan Sea Fox helps it detect otherwise hidden enemies, and
6 extra heat sinks help address the heat issues that can occur with this much firepower.
