Overview:
In an effort to build back up the morale of the Lyran Commonwealth and the LCAF after
decades of loss, Archon Trillian Steiner decided to resurrect the Hauptmann OmniMech, but
instructed the engineers at Defiance Industries, TharHes Industries and Coventry Metal
Works, who would all share the design, to improve upon the previous OmniMech. The result was
the Hauptmann II, a true descendant of the original and worthy of its legacy.
Capabilities:
Upping the mass to 100 tons, it was decided to give the design a clan-grade extralight type
300 fusion core. Although this decision does make the design more vulnerable than the
original, it also freed up enough mass to switch out the internal structure for a heavily
reinforced armored skeleton. This change allows the design to absorb massive punishment
before failure. It also leaves massive amounts of internal volume free to be fitted with
whatever weapons and equipment are needed to be fitted; which is useful considering the fact
that the design still has 45.5 tons of pod space available despite its heavy structure.
Deployment:
Much as the original, the first Hauptmann II’s produced have been distributed to those of
that rank throughout the LCAF.

Ok, I started out not liking it, but overall the concept works. Think my biggest remaining complaint is you had to change the tonnage to make it work.

You'd only loose 5 tons if you used an LFE over a CXL. But, this is a good use of a CXL.
That being said, you should have added 2 DHS to the engine and left 43.5 tons of pod space. You've permanently lost that free space now. _________________ one must work hard to cultivate the mind and body. and one must always cultivate the mind.

Second point first: why worry about crits when the only items using them are the engine crits and whatever you pod-mount? Besides, there’s Charlie configuration. And I’m mucking with a delta variant as well.
First point second: two reasons to go clan-tech extralight: 1) wanted maximum pod space despite the reinforced internal structure. 2) this is supposed to be an advance over the original design, using the best tech available to the Lyran Commonwealth. Since we can manufacture that level of engine, it makes sense to go with it.
