"Let's see them get a lock through that"
The Walkden A2 is the result of a want for a mech capable of consistently laying down smoke
cover for heavy brawling units while still being capable of keeping up in terms of speed,
firepower and armour.
The dual SRM-4 configuration allows for the generation of a single dense smoke cloud capable
of providing adequate cover to a friendly unit, or a larger cloud potentially capable of
blockong sightlines at key chokepoints, depending on whether one or both salvos are used on
the same point. Acknowledging that dedicating such weapons purely to a supporting role would
be a waste of potential, the Walkden comes with an additional ton of standard ammunition.
The 'mech is fairly expensive, making use of a full range of recent techonological advances
to try and keep it as enduring as possible. A notable flaw lays in the ER PPC: in an attempt
to reduce costs and make the weapon fit within the confines of the left torso, the thickness
of the weapons heat shielding was reduced to what was termed an "acceptable minimum". As a
result, attempting to use it in combination with any of the closer ranged armament will
often result in prompt (and hazardous) overheating.
for this reason, inexperienced pilots are usually kept away, what with accidentally boiling
oneself alive being viewed as a poor start to a career.
