Just got a Condor hover tank as part of the Battlefield Support salvage box I picked up yesterday.

I pulled up the Unit Management tab to double-check the stats, and to my surprise found that there were two different sets of official artwork for the vehicle, the classic 3026-era design and the newer design used for the miniature.

Does anyone know when the decision was made to change the design? So far as I know it wasn't part of the Unseen, so I'm curious as to why it was altered.

There has been an entire series of Recognition Guides done over the last few years, which have since been released as two compilation Technical Readouts.

These releases were done with new artwork for all the older machines (‘Mechs, Armor and Battle Armor) and featured new WYSiWYG configurations/models and in some cases, also some that were not WYSiWYG. Also, new units were also included in the series.

So basically, it was a relatively recent thing?

Thanks.

Depends on your definition of recent.

First pdf was published June 19, 2020; almost 5 years ago now.

The one with the Condor in it was published in November of 2022. My FLGS just got the print edition of the Techincal Readout with the armor in it a few months ago.

And Catalyst has slowly been updating the art for most of the units. Many younger people don't care for the 80's art; they don't hate it, but it is dated. And it allows Catalyst to move to in-house art that is copyrightable to Catalyst.
