PV is meant for Alpha Strike play only. It should definitely not be used for classic BattleTech play.
As to how it's calculated, let's just say it's VERY complicated. You can see the Point Value calculation for any unit by looking at the Point Value tab. That just scratches the surface of what I show to try to make it readable. _________________ Mordel Blacknight - Site Administrator

its not that complicated.
really Short and imprecise version is adding up all the damage, Add up all the hit points multiply by how much it dodges. Add or multiply other modifiers based on how fast it is. Add it all up.

It helps that I was there 3000 years ago. And that I pop in every once in awhile to keep up to date. All the errata came at me in easily digested bits instead of the entire document at once.
