I'm not too sure an Interdiction would've crippled the FedSuns. Not with Hanses black box technology. And I certainly don't agree that the Combine could've destroyed them as they would've been fighting a two front war with Davion and Steiner. A lot of their later success in 3039 had to do with Tech and Mechs granted directly from Comstar, and that probably wouldn't have come to them in 3029

I agree, during SW4 Takashi was focused on the Dragoons. Once that was over with there were enough Huae units in the area to hold off a secondary effort. Theodores docterine had not taken hold yet either, and Davion had figured out how to deal with the regular Kurita tactics.
A for the interdict, the BlackBoxes and couriers would be enough for defense. Liao was not in a position to do much of anything. 1/2 of the Amored Cavalry, the Capellan reaction force, was out of the fight due to losses. The second half of the fight had used up most of Liaos reserves in attacks on the bogus supply centers. Liao was on the ropes and probably saved by the interdict that slowed down the operations. I think Hanse jumped the wrong way in 3039. He should have used the lifting of the interdict to finish off Liao.

I think you are all overdoing the Black Box thing. One there were a very limited number. Two they could not send as much information. Basically you would go from 100 sites with a T1 line to 30 sites running 28.8. Do not see a problem? The military forces may have done fine but how about the military industrial complex or consumer goods companies. Short terms you muddle through, long term it is determental.
Laio should have been toast a long time ago. But since they are not the direction they are going is fine. My only beef is the fact they recovered so quickly and have tons of news factories, mech types, etc after almost getting crushed. Only if Comstar gave a crapload, and I mean make the Kurita 3039 dealings look like chump change could I see such a quick turn around. Also the sudden speed in which the Concordant and Magistry fell into orbit. Much better would be a looser alliance were the Liaotians gave up technology and border promises for inidsturial capacity and troops. A loose alliance would be more fun and more plausable. Why would the Taurians even hook up? They have been independant for eons. They avoide IS politics, now they are slowly being dragged in. A loose allice would give them power to stop the FC but not automatically get drug into a Cappallen land splurge.
I think the FRR was such a cool idea. A political end to a military conflict.
AWAD- Seems diplomacy and politics was lost on some of the writers, win battles, loose wars

Mordel frowns on the refreshing (or bumping) of posts.
So to make this "legal" how about we ask if anyone's opinion has changed? or anyone have anything to add?

I do believe I did that with the line, now that we know about the future...
But I can change it...
Has anyone's thoughts or opinions changed based off of my question above (top of thread)and the current events that we know will be happen in MWDA?

I'd be willing to bet that had the CC collapsed, war would have come even sooner. The FS and FWL would have rushed to scoop up as many worlds and would have have clashed. Hell, I'm surprised that the FWL has stayed as complacent as they have benn for so long.

I dont believe that the ComStar controlled FWL would have dared to fight against the FedCom.
Also keep in mind that ComStars hyperpulse generators have a range limit of 30 lightyears ( like the jumpships ). If they would have dared to make the interdict permanent, Hanse would have been forced to send Rabit Fox teams to disrupt the communications lines of ComStar by destroying their hyperpulse generators, as it would have been too much advantage that his enemies could use them when he cant.
I dont think that there would have been too much problems if Hanse would have helped Kai's family to "liberate" the entire CapCon.
As the riples of the destrucion of one of the most powerful and agressive clans had been so minor, why should such a weak House like the CapCon cause more problems than the Smoke Jaguars ?
MfG, MEX
P.S.: How about Kai marrying Katherine, ruling a with the FedCom allied CapCon ?
I am sure that Katherine would have concentrated her political ambitions on absorbing the lesser pheriphery nations and finally the age old enemy of the CapCon: the FWL !
This would have left 3 Houses remaining in the IS: DraCom, FedCom & a much more powerfull CapCon, opposed by the religious fanatics from ComStar which would try to break them up again as this consolidation would have been against their megalomanic plans to size control of the entire IS.

Awad I couldnt agree with you more! That was the main problem I had with CC after the raise of the star league.
I even pondered this question in my sleep. and then one day surfing the Net I found on the old Fasa site that SEVERAL people had left the company and they were redistributing what they had left behind.
Apparently the people that left had run the Suns and the Lyrains and a couple merch units. So the gentleman that wrote for the Liao's (Loren Coleman) Who from now on will be refered to as the "Bonehead" (Sorry but his writing is uninspired and boring) Also "Ran them" and went ahead and gave them all of this wonderful stuff because no one was around to put him in check. and since "Bonehead" wanted his house to be the best and strongest, and with no oposition to say "HEY nice find Laio but That vintage star league warship and mech factor you just found that is completely operational, now belongs to HOUSE Davion/Marik" Which is as a Davion what I would have done.
Now this is a theroie that I had worked up after finding out about the people leaving the company. I dont know how much of it is real but I have a strong felling that its not far from the truth.

For me the downfall of FASA and CBT started with the intriduction fo the clans !
Have you ever comaired the IS PPC and the ER-PPC of the clans ?
With such UNFAIR advantages in weapos technology the only hindrance to a clan dominated BattleTech universe is their own incompetence
As the first mech of the clans which was noticed by IS units has 2 ER-PPC's and is impossible fast for its size, i hated FASA for inventing the clans from the begining.
MfG, MEX
P.S.: When M.A.Stackpole left FASA i nearly quit BT.

I agree I actually liked what he did And I think he was one of the one holding Bonehead in check (Loren Coleman that is). I will admit that I wasnt happey with everything he had done, but I liked his writing and I did like Victor and Kai.
